This week I got some new toys! One in particular is a modern update to a vintage Star Wars collectible I’ve wanted for a long time. I’m really happy I got this as it showed up on Hasbro’s eBay store only for a short time, and I wasn’t able to secure the vintage counterpart before the value shot up recently. Check it out by clicking here!
There’s been quite a bit of squawking about placing Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars figures on classic Kenner-inspired packaging. Our friends at Blue Milk put together a concept that borrows elements from Kenner’s classic Droids and Ewoks lines. Ultimately, it appears to make more sense for an animated series to get packaging that mimics past animated toy lines. What do you think? Would the packaging represented below gone over better for those who criticized the standard The Vintage Collection packaging?
I get that the recently revealed Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars action figures for The Vintage Collection are getting a mixed reception from collectors. Still, for me, this is some of the most exciting news in recent memory as a Star Wars collector, and that’s with me accepting they’re imperfect. (more….)

Disney+ is adding a lot of vintage content to their platform this April. Fans can look forward to Volume I & II of Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars, Ewok movies Caravan of Courage and The Battle for Endor, and the animated Ewoks season 1 & 2. And, while they are not adding the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special, they are adding the very popular Boba Fett cartoon that was a part of the special: The Story of the Faithful Wookiee. Still missing from the line-up is the Droids cartoon.

I got a lot of toys this last week… I mean a lot. I didn’t get a chance to take a big group shot, so there will be lots to look at in this article! Click here to check it out!

We are finishing up our Visual Guide updates from The Black Series wave 25 with Plo Koon (109). Click below to check out our full Visual Guide page. We also have our full review of this figure available in our review database.
The Black Series [Phase III] 6″ collectors are getting a taste of what happens to a long-running Star Wars line. And they better get used to more! Hasbro has to meet budgets, and in order to meet budgets, reusing existing tooling is a requirement. The “Attack Of The Clones” wave is essentially the first “repack, refreshed, and repaint” wave for the 6″ line. but 3.75″ collectors are used to them. Plo Koon isn’t perfect, but it’s an admirable effort. Will you add one to your collection? (more….)
Hello once again, toy runners! It’s been a fantastic week in Star Wars. I got the newest wave of The Vintage Collection figures, and they are real winners! When we posted our review of Clone Commander Wolffe, I shared a photo of Thorn and Rex that I customized with a VC45 clone body instead of the swivel hip body Hasbro used for the commanders. I did the same thing with Wolffe last night, and by popular request, you’ll find a small tutorial on doing it yourself if you click here.
Tonight’s Visual Guide update takes a look a The Black Series 6-Inch Battle Droid (Geonosis) (108). Click below for our full Visual Guide page. You can also read our full review of this figure right here.
Thank you for reading Research Droids Reviews: Season 12!
There have been a significant number of changes made to the re-released The Vintage Collection See-Threepio (C-3PO) (VC06) figure. We took the time to break it all down for you by producing an all-new 68-image gallery complete with comparison shots, dioramas, and a breakdown of what separates the 2010 version from the 2020 new release. (Hasbro has released this figure every five years since 2010!) You can probably find See-Threepio (C-3PO) (VC06) at your local TARGET and WALMART stores now. If not, orders should begin shipping from the “Fan Channel” shortly. As usual, there’s more difference here than you may believe, including a possible retooling that benefits the aesthetics of the head sculpt! Be sure to acclimate yourself to the many changes!
As you can probably gather by the title of this week’s TRT, I got some clones this week! Captains, ARC troopers, Commanders, Purge troopers, oh my! Check out a few photos by clicking here, and then share some photos of your clone trooper collection in the comments below!
Welcome back to another Toy Run Tuesday everyone! Any luck with the Retro Collection at your local Walmart? I hear they are hitting in full force. How have you been fighting for TVC this week? I got a new figure or two in the mail, but one in particular I’d like to share! Don’t worry, the title will make sense if you just click through!
Hello again everybody! It’s another fine Tuesday to share with you my collecting from the past week. This week I have but one new figure to show you. It’s a custom from the Clone Wars you don’t think about very often. Click here to check it out!
The Revenge Of The Sith General Grievous 12 Inch Figure is far from perfection, but it’s not without merit either. Be sure to leave your thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or comment about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your review requests via email if you’d like to see something that we didn’t cover yet.
We have another The Black Series exclusive to add to our Visual Guides tonight. Click below to check out the Walgreens exclusive Clone Commander Obi-Wan Kenobi. We also have a full review of this figure right here.
Clone Commander Obi-Wan Kenobi is a relatively excellent action figure that has some aesthetics and accuracy issues, but you probably won’t care. The figure has one of the greatest head sculpts we’ve seen in the 6″ line. But there’s more. Find out in our Research Droids Reviews today! Be sure to leave your thoughts in our comments section, vote in the poll or comment about it on our Facebook page. Click the banner below for the direct link to the review! As always, you can also send your review requests via email if you’d like to see something that we didn’t cover yet.
