We have a sneak peek of the (Walmart Exclusive Entertainment Earth Exclusive ROSS Exclusive) Resistance A-wing Fighter (Red Squadron) vehicle. This vehicle has gone through quite a journey, hasn’t it? It’s unknown what happened that it never ended up at the first two retails it was intended for, and perhaps we’ll never know. The paint job is barely red (it doesn’t look that red) and it also comes with the first black female Resistance pilot. The review is coming soon, but you can check out the Photo Gallery now.
In case you missed any of it, here is the recap of The Vintage Collection wave 21. This great group of figures received updated galleries and a ton of discussion from our community. Be sure to add your two cents HERE if you missed any of it!
The Vintage Collection wave 21 features a few straight repacks. The Elite Praetorian Guard (VC138) is one of them. Click below to check out our Visual Guide for this figure. Make sure to also check out our full review.
NEW IMAGES ADDED INCLUDING COMPARISON SHOTS! Here come the straight repacks again! The Elite Praetorian Guard is an incredible action figure, but did we need it repackaged in The Vintage Collection? Ugh. Entertainment Earth has just sent out cancellation notices of the “never released” Walmart exclusive Force Link 2.0 Resistance A-wing Fighter (the red one now showing up at ROSS). It looks like eBay may be an only option for most of us unless this gets picked up by another discount retailer. What a shame.
Here we go! We are thrilled to present you with a sneak peek of The Vintage Collection wave 21, and now all of the rough galleries and notes are completed. Check out the Imperial Stormtrooper (from Rogue One), Lando Calrissian (from Solo), Chewbacca (from A New Hope), Captain Phasma (from The Force Awakens) and the Elite Praetorian Guard (from The Last Jedi). Full reviews and updated galleries coming VERY SOON! In the meantime, check out their current statuses HERE.
The MPAA released its annual report a short while ago. Unfortunately, since Solo failed to make the top five highest grossing movies of 2018, the MPAA report doesn’t offer a more detailed breakdown of the movie’s demographics, something we still had for The Last Jedi. However, the MPAA report has also a segment on home media performance. And here we can see how well The Last Jedi and Solo did. So click through for more info!
I originally reported that the short interview with Tom Kane had been cut from the official recording of the livestream on the Star Wars YouTube channel. Several people commented that the clip is missing, I checked the recording by scrubbing through it two or three times and didn’t find it. But apparently it’s still there. Maybe I was just blind and didn’t see it. Anyway, you can find the clip around the 6 hour 36 minute mark. Nothing was deleted. Apologies for the confusion! 🙂
Well, I am not sure if Tom Kane is going to have a job after this. During an interview at Star Wars Celebration, he stated that for the last six years he’s voiced Admiral Ackbar. And he immediately explained his disdain for his character’s death in The Last Jedi. He said (paraphrased) “And I was not really thrilled how they blew him up outside of the ship. And I’m like who’s this Holdo woman? And nobody knows this. No one invested in this. Who is she? Why is she saving the fleet?” before the host interrupted him to change topics and looked nervously doing so. The host’s expression is classic. See the clip yourself before it gets edited out at the 3 hours 49-minutes mark of the live feed on YouTube.
We are wrapping up our Visual Guides updates for wave 20 of The Black Series [Phase III]. The final figure we are adding to our Visual Guides is Vice Admiral Holdo (80). Click below to have a look at our guide page, and check out our review and disussion for this figure over in our review database.
We quote a line from Episode I “sort of” in our review of Vice Admiral Holdo. Terrible character or not, this gorgeous action figure won’t get the appreciation it deserves. And that’s sad. Welcome to another one of our JTA Presents: Evolutions features! Let’s check out how close or far we are from having an ideal Hasbro 3.75″ Rose Tico (Resistance Tech) action figure. Have we arrived at definitive status yet? Weigh in and let us know what conclusion you’ll come to by clicking through and adding your two cents in the comments!

Hasbro re-released The Force Awakens R2-D2, relabeled it with a TLJ-specific bio and resold it to Walmart. Yeah, you don’t need it either. Learn more in our Research Droids Reviews today! It’s hard to believe, but today marks the first anniversary since The Last Jedi was released in theaters. It’s a film that divided the community (much to my surprise), and while many fans loved it, many others believe it has “broken” Star Wars permanently. One thing is for sure, very few have been able to stop talking about it the last 365 days! Rumors abound that Episode IX completely ignores what was established in Episode VIII, but no one knows what is right until Episode IX is released in theaters next year. The Last Jedi has many entertaining parts, but let us know how the film has influenced your anticipation and expectations for Episode IX. Keep the comments fun and friendly, and agree to disagree before it turns unfriendly. Thank you!
If you love these little guys, here’s a nice sale for you to build up your flock!
More The Black Series [Phase III] 6″ figures have arrived at Five Below locations across the country. New figures include C-3PO (Resistance Base) and Scarif Stormtrooper Squad Leader. We have “heard” that more of these case assortments will be arriving this week, so be sure to check out your local store. On a related note, we just joked about Star Wars [The Last Jedi] unsold product landing at Five Below in about two years. But they’ve arrived now. You can get $29.99 vehicles for $5 if you’re so inclined.
It’s older news, but Tuesday Morning stores are still getting in the final wave of the Walmart exclusive The Black Series [Phase III] 3.75″ action figures. These stores are also receiving other Star Wars items too. Special thanks to JTA reader and friend Martin M. for the alert!
We are finishing up the Star Wars [Solo] Two-Packs section in our Visual Guides with the repacked and Force Link 2.0 upgraded Rose (First Order Disguise)/BB-8/BB-9E set. Click below to check out the full guide page. Make sure to also revisit this review from earlier this year right here.
Today Hot Toys announced their take on Luke Skywalker as he appeared on Crait. Expect pre-orders to open very soon! The figure will come with a light-up LED lightsaber, an extra lightsaber blade that simulates motion blur for that swooshing action, the usual extra hands and with Han’s pair of dice. Go to Hot Toys’ Facebook page for many more photos of Crait Luke!
The Hollywood Reporter recently posted an article about a study that examined tweets directed at Rian Johnson, following the release of The Last Jedi. And the study finds that more than half of all the negative tweets are not by real fans but are either politically motivated by the alt-right or come from Russia in order to sow dissent. I did read the actual paper and if you click through I will provide some additional info.
We have Canadian TRU Exclusive/Entertainment Earth Exclusive The Last Jedi multipack from Star Wars [Solo] as our Visual Guide update tonight. Click below to check out this set. You can also read all of the details on this exclusive set right here in our review database.
The only thing worse than another Maz Kanata figure is a holographic one. Or is it? (Hey, at least we get to see what the Force Link 2.0 chip looks like now.) See why the former Toys R Us exclusive (in the USA) Star Wars [Solo] Kylo Ren/Holographic Maz Kanata/Rey (Island Journey)/First Order Snowtrooper/Captain Poe Dameron multipack, now an Entertainment Earth exclusive, may not be a hit.
