We have some great news to report. All of you who had your Walmart online orders canceled for the TVC Jabba’s Palace (Adventure Set) will have new hope. Although completely sold out with no plans for a restock, we’ve learned from some reliable sources that Walmart’s plans have changed for the better and they WILL replenish online stock. Also, Walmart is working very hard to remedy their ordering and stock logistics to make everything a smoother experience for collectors. At the moment, we don’t have an exact ETA on when that happens, but we expect it to run closer to when these units hit brick and mortar, which right now is “Fall.” If we receive more specific information, we’ll post an update. This release was Walmart’s fastest selling exclusive ever, and they’re excited what interest products from The Vintage Collection brings. More great things to come!

The End Result of Poor Distribution: Walmart Edition

Yesterday I went to a liquidation store because I knew they had star wars figures. I just didn’t realize how many figures they had… There were cases upon cases full of Cassian and Jyn, and the remaining third of the stack was split between Death Troopers, Scarif Troopers, Lando, and Ackbar. We are hearing more than just a few complaints that not everyone has received his or her Walmart exclusive TVC Jabba’s Palace (Adventure Set) yet. To date, their orders are showing as still pending or have been canceled altogether because of a lack of stock. If this is you, please let us know your status in the comments, or if you’d prefer more privacy, send me an email. The information you provide will be used to help find out more about the situation. Thanks. Keep in mind that more units will arrive in stores this Fall, so you shouldn’t need to resort to aftermarket prices on eBay.

Facebook page Cardboard Galaxy has produced a fantastic enhancement for your Jabba’s Palace (Adventure Set). It looks so incredible we wish Hasbro would have thought of this and added it to the box! A simple cardboard flooring and backdrop add depth and dimension like never before! Check them out! Special thanks to JTA reader Matthew C. for the tip!

This TVC Jabba's Palace Shipment Is Purely Ridiculous!

Well, I guess every delivery couldn’t be perfect. JTA reader Lord Bodega eagerly anticipated the arrival of his Jabba’s Palace Adventure Sets, only to receive the two he ordered taped together and with shipping labels attached to the outside of the product boxes. There was no shipper box at all! We are trying to figure out which warehouse his items were shipped from, but in the meantime, please let us know if you experienced something similar. Overall, the shipping experiences for this item have been incredibly positive.

Oh No! Can't Believe It! Bubblegate Returns?

The Walmart exclusive TVC Jabba’s Palace (Adventure Set) is the hybrid of many perfect things. It’s why it’s selling out the moment it goes back in stock. And it’s why we are still talking about it after so many posts. But today I noticed something that concerns me. (more….)

Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard) (VC144) - The Vintage Collection

Question. Actually, two questions. Question #1: Should The Vintage Collection Ree-Yees (VC137) and Han Solo (Carbonite) (VC136) from Jabba’s Palace (Adventure Set) receive VC numbers part of the regular lineup, or should they instead receive a number more similar to the one given to Yak Face from Jabba’s Sail Barge (The Khetanna) (VC000)? Do you find it bothersome in any way that figures part of the basic figure numbering system are exclusive to playset? I suppose the same would apply to retailer exclusives like Lando Calrissian (Skiff Guard) (VC144) and Han Solo (Stormtrooper) (VC143) as well.

Question #2: Should Han Solo (Carbonite) (VC136) have been part of this set? Shouldn’t Hasbro have added the redone magnetic carbonite block as an accessory here and instead included another Jabba’s palace alien? The reason I bring this up is that Han Solo is based on his appearance from The Empire Strikes Back and not Return Of The Jedi. Oh, and if you think neither of these questions is important, please skip over this post. Thanks.

Ugh. Entertainment Earth has just sent out cancellation notices of the “never released” Walmart exclusive Force Link 2.0 Resistance A-wing Fighter (the red one now showing up at ROSS). It looks like eBay may be an only option for most of us unless this gets picked up by another discount retailer. What a shame.

When loose samples of Kitik Keed’kak (2 of 3) showed up on eBay in 2003, Hasbro crazily denied that this action figure was ever made. And they didn’t come clean until almost a year later. Many of you are curious to learn more about the “clean variation” of the TVC Stormtrooper (Mimban) figure that showed up on tunghori’s eBay store recently. We received our sample and added images of it to our gallery in the RDR including comparison shots. Simply put, this clean version of the Mimban Stormtrooper should give us a pretty good idea of what to expect from the upcoming TVC Rogue One Stormtrooper. It’s without any battle-damage markings at all and possesses a bone-white color which makes it unique to the other Imperial Stormtrooper action figures received to date, and we’re glad to have the figure in our collections now. The figure, to date, has not returned to this eBay seller’s store. Check out the update gallery HERE. You can still order this figure HERE at Walmart.com too.

Jabba's Palace (Adventure Set)

Holy mackerel. I am dumbfounded by The Vintage Collection Jabba’s Palace (Adventure Set). This is what I had wished for TVC since its inception back in 2010. And although it took almost a decade to happen, Hasbro finally gets it. When it comes to scenery and playsets and other things required to make the 3.75″ super-articulated masterpieces look more beautiful, this is one of the ways to do it. Jabba’s Palace (Adventure Set) comes with a solid plastic diorama of a cut of Jabba’s Palace. It then interacts wonderfully with the two figures exclusively included here, but also with so many other beautiful action figures produced years ago.

Exclusively included are TVC-carded versions of Han Solo (Carbonite) (VC136) and Ree-Yees (VC137). Han Solo disappointingly doesn’t come with “photorealistic” technology, but his paint operations are slightly improved from the 2015 release. His carbonite block is magnetized this time and hangs properly within the walls of Jabba’s Palace. Still, he’s based on The Empire Strikes Back, so we need a ROTJ-specific version of him. Seeing him carded this time in TVC-packaging is nice. Ree-Yees is markedly improved. The eyes look better than ever, and his coloring is brighter and more profound like it should be. And in all honesty, were it not for an exclusive retail set like this, we may have never gotten Ree-Yees packaged in The Vintage Collection. Both figures are a tremendous enhancement to this retailer exclusive, and make the $49.99 MSRP completely worth it for us.

The review is coming tomorrow, but feel free to check out the full gallery and other parts of the review right now. We worked up some cool scenes for you to enjoy and spent some time putting everything together for some screen-accurate presentations. Please leave your thoughts in the comments and be sure to come back for the full review tomorrow. By the way, our sample has a defect. The tauntaun’s right horn isn’t attached correctly, so we got stuck with an odd-looking trophy. Don’t let the error affect your appreciation of this set. Click HERE to check it out!
