Review: Rey (Island Journey) - TBS6 [P3] - 58

The Rey (Island Journey) 6″ figure is a perfect 10. Hasbro has raised the bar tremendously with the new “photorealistic” deco approach. Pay Attention 6" Aficionados! Hasbro Has Just Raised The Bar!

Well. Hasbro has raised The Black Series 6″ line to a whole new bar. It’s 2018, so that means that all new 6″ figures will be graced with “photorealistic” technology which more simply put means these figures are off the charts when it comes to quality. Both Rey (Island Journey) and DJ (Canto Bight) are easily two of the best 6″ figures Hasbro has produced since 2013. THEY MUST GO BACK AND CORRECT THEIR TRAVESTIES OF YEARS PAST! We’re not even kidding. Rey (Island Journey) is so good it makes us forget what made us dislike her in The Force Awakens. Her facial paint operations are stunning. The rest of her paint operations and smart use of soft-goods (upgraded by Hasbro during production) are equally good too. DJ (Canto Bight), yeah, we’re not crazy about his character either. But the figure is gorgeous and looks JUST LIKE Benicio. Check out early galleries and collector notes for both figures by clicking each thumbnail below. Reviews are coming VERY soon! See why Hasbro should receive thunderous applause for these two efforts. (Clone Captain Rex coming soon too!)

Found! TBS6 [P3] Wave 15 Hits Toys R Us!

Found! The Black Series [Phase III] wave 15 figures have been found at Toys R Us in Ft. Wayne Indiana! We exclusively revealed what figures would make up part of this case assortment last year. Sadly, as expected, the First Order Stormtrooper is exactly the same as the 2015 figure. (Hasbro, you really couldn’t update the helmet?) And even worse, Captain Phasma has not been given her staff and still has the same bulky body. Oh well. Special thanks to JTA reader Ian D. for the alert!

Amazon Listing For TBS6 Rey (Island Journey)

When we were trying to get the Amazon listing for The Black Series 6″ Rey (Island Journey) originally, it kept taking us to the Rey (Jedi Training) page and now we know why. They split the page and added Rey (Island Journey) as an alternate “Brown” color. So far there is only a third party seller, but keep this page added to your list. We’ll update you when pre-orders start!

Review: Rey (Island Journey) - SW [TLJ] - Basic

Sigh. It’s another action figure based on Rey. Rey (Island Journey) isn’t exciting, but perhaps she’s a necessary release. See what you think in our Research Droids Reviews today! An Advanced Look At The New Wave Of Force Link Basic Figures

We have a sneak peek for you of the newest wave of Force Link basic figure before we begin the reviews tomorrow! Check out galleries and collector notes for these figures now. DJ (Canto Bight) is a nice figure, but it doesn’t look much like Benicio Del Toro at all. He comes with an all-new and very cool blaster that looks like something from the Old West. R2-D2 is the star of the wave for us. Hasbro resurrected the Build A Droid sculpt for this figure and we couldn’t be more elated about it. Luke Skywalker (Jedi Exile) looks much better without his hood but comes with two extra points of articulation: swivel wrists. And Rey (Island Journey) is really just a reason for Hasbro to double dip on a version of this character we already have, but this all-new sculpt does come with swivel elbows this time around. Click any of the images below to be taken to our Research Droids Reviews on this wave of figures. General Leia Organa and Jyn Erso (Jedha) will be forthcoming.

Some Great TBS6 Figures Grouped Together Are Telling

When I look back at the third phase of The Black Series 6″ line through the recent reveals at NYCC, there is a diverse assortment of about six figures that really stand out to me. Lando Calrissian and the Imperial Royal Guard from wave 11 are definitely two of Hasbro’s best efforts. But then when I jog my memory further back in history, I remember the excitement of waiting to acquire the First Order Stormtrooper and Captain Phasma from wave 1 and wave 2 respectively. (That was of course before I saw Episode VII.) And then what a joy it was actually attending the HASCON convention and get the exclusive Clone Captain Rex. It’s going to be so exciting to see his “photo realistic” face deco in person. And the NYCC-revealed Rey (Island Journey) was a nice surprise too. She’s a nice-looking figure that’s also coming with “photo realistic” technology. You can truly see how far they’ve come in this format. These are not fourth rate action figures. No, they ride the crest of the wave of action figure superiority as far as we’re concerned. I wouldn’t mind seeing them again before the end of the year in fact. Let us know what figures stand out for you too!
