Obi-Wan Kenobi is set years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith where Kenobi faced the corruption of his friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned Sith Lord Darth Vader.
We all now have a Star Wars “Pinhead” in our collections! The Obi-Wan Kenobi series wasn’t for everyone. We’d go so far as to say that it was for most longtime Star Wars fans. That said, they managed to incorporate a fair number of new characters; fans embraced some, and others not so much. The Grand Inquisitor’s concept dates back to The Clone Wars series, and now that the character type is part of a live-action Star Wars series, there is more to understand and appreciate here. Much to our shock and surprise, aside from the forearms, Hasbro tooled an all-new figure for the Grand Inquisitor. We were confident they would be as lazy as possible and utilize most of the tooling from the Fifth Brother (Inquisitor) (OWK04) figure. Still, we only see the forearms reused, and that’s questionable as it appears there are a few differences there too. The Grand Inquisitor figure looks excellent. Its species is Pau’an, and its most notable appearance was in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith. This character is a little rounder in the face and, overall, more buff, so it lends itself to feeling like a whole other species. The Grand Inquisitor has a fantastic articulation system and can easily achieve many poses. Hasbro incorporated a lovely soft-goods cape with two colored sides, black on the outer and maroon on the inner. On our sample, it doesn’t sit right and hangs unevenly, but we’re sure we can drape appropriately with a bit of finagling. The Grand Inquisitor has three accessories that all snap together to create the character’s signature lightsaber. The ring hilt fits nicely into the figure’s hands, and you can choose one, two, or no blades for display options. The head sculpt is excellent, and the paint operations are flawless. This release is a realistic action figure and certainly a highlight in The Black Series 6-inch line. Too bad 3.75-inch collectors only have a 5POA version of this character. There is too much injustice in this collecting galaxy.
