Q and A of the Day: Day 70

Posted by Paul | July 21, 2014 at 10:47 AM ET

Welcome to our next Q and A of the Day post! This column will be published daily, weekly, monthly, or just based on how many questions I get emailed – but no more than one a day. Feel free to send in your questions and I will put them in the queue. Click through for Q and A of the Day: Day 70. Topic: The Vintage Collection repacks. Which are which?

Q: Hey Paul, my question is pretty straight forward. I'm wondering how many and which figures were carried forward to the TVC line. I know that 4-LOM had some slight paint differences from its first release, and the same can be said for the Deleted Scene Sandstorm Leia figure that added the extra gear but the figure itself was from a couple years earlier. My guess is that the number isn't as high as many of us wanted it to be. It feels as if there were many missed opportunities to sell us older figures on the what seems to be the most popular cardbacks in the modern collecting era. (studlydudly)

A: That depends upon who you ask. Some have different definitions on what constitutes a repack or a repaint. I went for the most basic in my answer. If a sculpt was reused to bring us a "new" character, I didn't include it here, otherwise, all of the clones would be here. I actually had to go through the RDRs to answer this, but I think this is a pretty solid list. This includes figures that are either straight repacks or possess slight paint operations changes. If the figure was dramatically repainted (to be another character for example) or had any new tooling, I have excluded them from this list.

4-LOM – slight repaint of 2007’s TAC 4-LOM (30 41)

Aurra Sing – straight repack of the Discover The Force figure.

B-wing Pilot – repaint of the Evolutions figure.

Boba Fett (VC09) – repaint of Evolutions figure.

Boba Fett (VC09) [ROTJ] – slight repaint of 2004’ VOTC Boba Fett

Clone Commander Cody – repaint of 2009’s LC Clone Commander Cody (BD44)

Commander Gree – slight repaint of 2008’s TAC Commander Gree (08 03)

Gungan Warrior – straight repack of the Discover The Force figure.

Han Solo (In Trench Coat) – repaint of the figure from 2008's TLC Shield Generator Assault Battle Packs set

Han Solo (Yavin Ceremony) – repaint of 2009’s LC Han Solo (BD30)

Mawhonic (Podracer Pilot) – straight repack of the Discover The Force figure.

Naboo Pilot – straight repack of the Discover The Force figure.

Obi-Wan Kenobi (VC16) – slight repaint of the 2006 TSC Obi-Wan Kenobi (SAGA 028)

Obi-Wan Kenobi (VC31) – repaint of 2009’s TLC Obi-Wan Kenobi (BD 44)

Obi-Wan Kenobi (VC76) – straight repack of 2009’s LC Obi-Wan Kenobi (BD06)

Princess Leia (Sandstorm Outfit) (VC88) – repaint of 2009’s LC Princess Leia (BD17) (+ extra accessories)

Princess Leia (Slave Outfit) (VC64) – slight repaint of 2009’s LC Princess Leia (BD17)

Qui-Gon Jinn (VC75) – Qui-Gon Jinn is a straight repack of the figure from 2009’s LC Qui-Gon Jinn And Eopie mail-away figure set.

Sandtrooper (VC14) – Sandtrooper is a slight repaint of the figure from 2009’s LC Dewback With Imperial Sandtrooper set.

Super Battle Droid – Super Battle Droid is a repaint of 2008's TLC Super Battle Droid (SL 10)

TIE Fighter Pilot – TIE Fighter Pilot is a slight repaint of the TIE Interceptor Pilot included with 2009's LC TIE Interceptor Toys R Us exclusive.

I believe I have captured them all. Please let me know if I missed one.
