The Disney Store is proud to introduce the Star Wars Toybox range of action figures, bringing adventures to life with characters from across The Walt Disney Company.

The Disney Store/Shop Disney exclusive Star Wars Toybox line appeals to many different facets of collectors. Between the super-articulation and the specialized animation style, the line interests both those who were fans of the Disney Infinity game, and those who are generally interest in well-articulated action figures. After a lackluster first wave of figures that focused on The Force Awakens, Disney got back to basics with subsequent waves by focusing on a cast of characters from the Original Trilogy. In fact, aside from the first wave, they’ve focused on nothing but Original Trilogy characters. This is a smart move for any collector-focused line that focuses on super-articulated action figures. It’s very interesting to us how both Rogue One and The Last Jedi are not represented in this line yet, and they don’t seem to be anywhere in site either for the upcoming schedule of figures. That’s alright with us if Disney keeps their focus on the beautiful Original Trilogy. It’s merchandising gold for any licensee.

The Star Wars Toybox line is a high-end action figure line. Disney tools lots of super-articulation into these figures, and they can achieve poses that most Hasbro figures today cannot. (We’re talking about the 5POA line of course.) It’s hard for many collectors to approve of an animated look for action figures, but we would only encourage all Star Wars collectors to give this line a chance because they’re some of the most beautiful things available in the line to date. Han Solo is another fantastic release in the Star Wars Toybox line. As usual, the figure is loaded with premium articulation. The animation style presents a caricatured version of the onscreen hero we fell in love with four decades ago, and the Disney captured the expression of the smuggler turned Rebel hero very excellently in this action figure. The outfit is authentic, and so is the blaster pistol accessory. Everything here is intended to look exaggerated, so expect to find things out of scale and out of place with this line. It’s all intentional.

With 27 points of articulation, Han Solo can achieve a nice array of movement. Whether you have his posed in some action stance, have him “running,” or just have him standing at attention, he can do it all with little effort. We’ve noticed that Disney tightened up the joints on Han Solo (as compared to past figures), so that is an upgrade here as far as we’re concerned. We remember the First Order Stormtrooper (3) figure came with terribly loose joints. Han Solo’s joints are noticeably tighter and the figures can hold the poses much more easily. Han Solo comes with a nicely detailed blaster pistol. He doesn’t come with a functioning holster because the gun is too big and would look ridiculous attached to his hip. But Disney did tool his right hand in a manner that interacts with the gun beautifully. Overall, we’re very pleased with how well Han Solo turned out. We truly hope that more Original Trilogy characters are on the way, and that Disney thinks outside of the box when panning what characters they should add into the line. But they’re doing a great job thus far.
