Check Out The SDCC Q&A With Hasbro From Yodasnews

Yodasnews had the opportunity to talk to Steve Evans and Joe Ninivaggi at SDCC and asked them several questions. Definitely check out the interview and click through for a few key details from the Q&A!

Joe Ninivaggi and Steve Evans

Joe Ninivaggi and Steve Evans interviewed by Yodasnews at SDCC ’18

I won’t reiterate everything that was said, simply listen to the interview. But I think a few things are worth pointing out.

It seems the Centerpiece line is coming to an end for the time being. That’s at least how I interpret Joe Ninivaggi’s statement that after the Rey centerpiece set they will give the line “a rest for a while” to gather new ideas for new sets (several ideas were presented to them by Yodasnews, such as a Cantina centerpiece or Yoda’s hut on Dagobah). It has been speculated for a while now by many collectors whether or not this line does well, apparently not too well, or else the line would not be put on hiatus for the time being.

And then Joe Ninivaggi freely admitted that the TVC repacks are a mistake, but that they have learned from it and he repeated what was said during the Hasbro panel, that beginning in 2019 there will be much fewer of these repacks. Kylo Ren was explicitly mentioned, Hasbro always has to guess which figures might do well well in advance and they thought Kylo on a vintage card would be something many people want, hence the repack.

There are many other tidbits, it was confirmed once more that Europe and other territories will get a limited quantity of Sail Barges in 2019. The logistics are challenging but fans outside of North America will get the Barge. No additional details were mentioned.

And they also confirmed that 6 inch Black Series prequel figures will soon be revealed at upcoming conventions / events in Mexico and Canada! So we all need to stay tuned!
