It's An Exclusive Trap!

Has your local Toys R Is store been collecting Admiral Ackbar/First Order Officer two-packs? While easily one of the nicer exclusives to support Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, perhaps the combination of characters didn’t make sense. JTA reader Keven M. suggest Hasbro should have done a “Mon Calamari” two-pack instead to include Admiral Raddus from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. We imagine that set would have sold infinitely better. Anyway, let us know if you’re experiencing the same pile-ups in your area as well.

I am not sure how your area looks but the closest TRU to me (Pembroke Pines, FL) is constantly getting in more cases of their exclusive Ackbar & FO Officer 2pack…which I find amusing if nothing else.

We all know this set is somewhat underwhelming to say the least so I can’t imagine any collector being too surprised that it’s not a hot seller (why not a “Calamari Commander” 2pack with ROTJ Ackbar and R1 Raddus instead? smh) but what’s interesting is…the more this set doesn’t sell at this store..the more this store is getting in. I have visited this store about 4 times in the last 5 weeks or so and every single time i go in, I see more cases of the set on the shelf.

As of today, it has reached a cartoonish level of absurdity as the set was now merchandized (and priced) in 3 different areas of the SW aisle and I now counted a 63 units (16 cases) in total…

Considering I might not be the only one who finds this humorous, I figured it’s time to share. If this trend keeps up, this TRU might need to just make a pallet for the figures and stage it next to the aisle lol.
