Perspective Is Everything - State Of Collecting In Sweden!

Posted by Paul | April 21, 2012 at 11:53 PM ET

I guess if you see the stuff all the time it could be really annoying, but I don't think American collectors would be upset about what's "sitting" on the shelves in Swedish Toys R Us stores. Click through to read Mats Johansson's report from Sweden!

Hi Paul!

Would like to share with you the current situation regarding Star Wars toys in Sweden. There is almost only one place to buy Star Wars toys in Sweden and that´s at Toysrus. All other stores and even online ones only carry a few figures from The Clone Wars line (repack figures from 2011) and the rest of it is LEGO. It´s hard to be a Star Wars collector in Sweden because i can´t buy what i want so i have to buy from USA or UK.

Went to my “local” Toysrus today on a misson for someone in the States and took some pictures for you. So what did i find?? Can you blame me if i cry??

The Clone Wars: Found 1 Clonetrooper Riot gear and 1 Mandalorian Policeofficer. The rest i found was repack figures from 2011. No new figures at all. They have the “new” Battle Packs like Defend Kamino etc and also vehicles from 2011, but nothing new. They also have the 2-pack figures from 2011 like crazy and i mean that. Over 30 and most of it is ARF Trooper & Geonoisan Warrior and Cad Bane & IG-86. Deluxe figures like Cad Bane w Speederbike and Castas with Speederbike to name a few was in great supply to. Also had Republic Attack Shuttles (Half off)

The Vintage Collection: Mostly figures from wave 3 2010. That´s right i have not seen any new figures since wave 3 2010 exept The Phantom Menace wave (will come back to that later). And yeah they have Clone troopers and Admiral Ackbars and some other ones to. Even 2 Wedge Antilles (Editor's Note: Can you imagine Wedge Antilles just sitting on the shelf?!) was left. They had some of the newer Vehicles like the Landspeeder and Tauntaun. But that´s it. NOTHING MORE

Movie Heroes: Well do i need to say anything about this. Plenty off it to go around and looks like nobody wants it. There were alot of Battle Packs from this line to and some veichles. To include in this was a lot of Discover the Force figures but to pay 300 SEK (about 43 USD) for a figure is insane. Keep in mind that this is wave 1 we talk about here.

The Phantom Menace Wave: Well not much left exept some Obi-Wan figures and like 2 or 3 other ones (only 1 of each). They had an awesome extra self with Star Wars toys when the new lines came out at the begining of the year but almost everything is gone now, and built in to the Star Wars self.

Saga Legends (2010): Like the Movie Heroes there was alot to go around and it doesn´t look like Hasbro does what they do in your stores and takes them of the selves. No one want´s it but yeah let´s keep it in stock, that will make everybody happy.

The Legacy Collection: Hey they had 4 figures left, 2 Ugnaughts (BD43) and i have forgotten the last two. I even think there was one or two Scout troopers from Saga Legends 2009

And there you have it. To be a Star Wars collector in Sweden is awful and even if i buy my stuff from USA it´s cheaper than the Swedish toystores and i can get almost everything i want without to much trouble. Sure i have to use ebay sometimes but if i search long and well i can find what i want.

Sorry about the bad pictures.

Regards

Mats Johansson
