Capable of launching energy bow atacks with deadly accuracy, this member of a male warrior society will fight to the death against the quest to rebuild the Jedi Order in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Well, if we have to have a Nightbrother Warrior in the Gaming Greats sub-line, then we suppose that the Nightbrother Archer is another requirement. But did Hasbro have to make it a repaint? They couldn’t have added anything unique to the existing tool so that the characters looked different from each other? Well, we suppose the paint operations take care of that enough for collectors. Or does it? The Gaming Greats line, at face value, should be a sub-collection of action figures that brings many types of Star Wars fans into the collecting fold. But the laziness Hasbro puts forth in the line makes everyone lose interest. You cannot use the same buck over and over and produce multiple different characters from the games. And when characters like the Republic Commando crew have longtime fans, it disrespects them by forcing a square peg into a round hole to “get the figure out there.” We understand the need that Hasbro must amortize tooling budgets, but there are some sacrifices they cannot make.

Hasbro took 2022’s TBS [P4] Nightbrother Warrior (GG05) figure and repainted it in a pale red, almost pink, color. They appeared to have tweaked the horns a little bit on how they flare on its head and packaged it as another character in the Gaming Greats sub-collection of The Black Series [Phase IV] lineup. It’s another Savage Opress lookalike. We’re moving quickly in the teal-colored packaging subset by adding many new colleagues to this collection. Nightbrother Archer is admittedly a sharp action figure. And with other characters in the Star Wars universe looking similar, it makes sense why Hasbro would revisit this tooling and develop action figures based on it. Darth Maul without the shirt on allows us to see the body tattoos that are typically hidden under the dark garb the Zabrak species wears. This figure’s upper body and head sculpt were all-new components on the Nightbrother Warrior, and Hasbro took this figure to create the Nightbrother Archer. The only difference aside from the paint job is the included accessory.

Nightbrother Archer holds the included bow excellently. You can recreate a lifelike archery stance with the figure and accessory. And there are many ways you can have the figure position with it. There is a lot of low-hanging fruit in The Black Series line, and Hasbro will continue to find ways to save on tooling costs by giving us reworked existing sculpts with tweaks to develop new characters. It’s a good-looking figure for what it is. Hasbro doesn’t need to spend much money creating new action figures. Nightbrother Archer is proof of this assertion. If we had to nitpick, we’d have to point out that the paint operations aren’t as perfect as we’d like to see. It’s not that the factory did a poor job of applying them. The paint operation programming seems to have crowded the alternating pale reds and blacks, and it all seems to run together in the figure’s face. The rest of the body looks good. If you can handle the $26.99 MSRP, we believe you will enjoy the GameStop-exclusive Nightbrother Archer action figure.
