The Disney Store is proud to introduce the Star Wars Toybox range of action figures, bringing adventures to life with characters from across The Walt Disney Company.

Merchandise for The Mandalorian is infiltrating every single Star Wars license, and Shop Disney/Disney Store is getting in on the fun as well. They had marvelous success with the Star Wars Toybox line, and when they focus on the hottest properties within Star Wars, the line gets stronger and stronger. The runaway success of The Mandalorian has necessitated licensee to stop, drop, and roll to get ahead of the fire that is this Disney+ series. Exceeding expectations, there is now a “Mando Mondays” event transpiring during the airing of Season 2, in effort to keep the ball of excitement rolling for this unprecedented Star Wars series. Disney’s Star Wars Toybox line released The Mandalorian. And while there’s technically a second figure included with The Mandalorian, (The Child), it functions more as an accessory since they permanently attached The Child to the pram. There is no removable figure here. That may not inhibit Star Wars collectors from picking this set up for their collections. We won’t claim it’s a perfect interpretation of what we see in the show, but this animated line does well, and collectors may make the necessary concessions for it to add it into their collections.

The Mandalorian is a nice-looking action figure. Based on the Beskar armor version of the character, Disney painted the figure with the closest thing they could find to match the metallic properties of the armor. The Mandalorian glistens and reflects light nicely, but we’d be untruthful if we didn’t say that we wish for some vacuum metalization here instead. As with all of the Star Wars Toybox lines, The Mandalorian comes loaded with articulation. Most of the articulation points allow for meaningful movement. These are super-articulated action figures, and the fact that Disney can produce a larger-sized action figure filled with premium articulation speaks volumes for Star Wars action figures in general. Why can’t Hasbro produce this level of quality for this price point? For an animated take on this character, Disney did an excellent job on the figure’s tooling. The detail is gorgeous, and they capture the spirit of the character perfectly with this action figure. The Mandalorina comes with a blaster pistol, as well as a molded holster to put it into when not in use. And while the figure’s cape is separately sculpted, they glued it to the back of the figure to keep it in place.

The “bonus” accessory here is The Child in the pram. Unfortunately, we don’t get a separate figure of The Child here. It’s part of the molded pram, and we only get one pose. There is no stand to prop it up from the ground either. We’re a bit saddened by this decision too. Aesthetically, having the pram raised off of the ground would have been screen-accurate. Although essentially not much more than a pack-in accessory, Disney did tool an excellent likeness (in animated style) of The Child here. The pram is an off-white eggshell color with a reddish-orange interior. Sitting along its edge is The Child smiling with its hands leaning out. The Mandalorian and The Child look fantastic together. We only wish that The Child was a separate figure for The Mandalorian to hold and with which to interact. This set has an MSRP of $14.99 which is different than the standard $12.99 of previous figures released in this line. Whether it’s because of the extra inclusion of The Child, or simply because the price of this line has gone up remains to be confirmed. But like most other Star Wars collectibles, everything goes up in price. The hobby will eventually be unaffordable.
