“This is a rebellion isn’t it? I rebel.”

One of the surprise-hit characters of Disney Star Wars is Jyn Erso. The character turned out to be better than most expected. In fact, Rogue One appealed to more longtime Star Wars fans than anything else produced in the Sequel Trilogy thus far. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is an important story that partly bridges the gap between Episode III and Episode IV. But more importantly, it shares with moviegoers the events that transpired right before Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and it leads them right up to the opening crawl of that film. Jyn Erso was a tragic hero. Her ultimate death in the film (along with her strike team) was emotional, yet poignant. There was no way out from her destiny, and a hero’s death can leave a lasting impact on the audience. Licensees have felt the impact Jyn Erso left on the Star Wars community. While not all of the collectibles based on her have turned out well, Sideshow Collectibles Jyn Erso Premium Format Figure rises to the occasion by offering high-end collectors a screen-accurate version of the character with an elevated approach and screen-accurate interchangeability.

The Jyn Erso Premium Format figure is a “better than excellent” interpretation of the character. Based on her outfit from Eadu, Jyn Erso comes with a poncho and all of the required gear to face the Galactic Empire and witness her father’s execution. The design of the mixed media polystone figure is admirable. With just a few separately sculpted parts to completely build her, Jyn Erso stands atop of a beautifully sculpted landing platform, seemingly accurate to what was seen in the film. And she holds a blaster rifle in both hands with her cocked downward in a pose that appears as if she is hot on the trail of something. The expression on her portraits is seemingly emotionless. Her large blue eyes seem aloof and in motion, but do not capture any iota of fear or concern. Her costume is beautifully replicated. With a mix of fabrics, metals, and plastics, Sideshow Collectibles has ensured that every last part of her outfit is as authentic on a polystone statue as it was in the film. Sideshow Collectible also included the gas mask that hung from her neck. The canister of it is stowed in a pouch that hangs around her body. They did a magnificent job on this figure.

For Sideshow Exclusive collectors, they’ve included an interchangeable portrait; one where she is wearing a cap and goggles. We prefer the exclusive head sculpt because it’s more indicative of how she appeared in this outfit in Rogue One. The exclusive version of Jyn Erso is limited to only 500 pieces and is sure to command a premium (no pun intended) on the aftermarket, but this is true of most exclusive figures from Sideshow Collectibles. Real fabric clothing, plastic and metal accessories and an environmental display stand all work together to make a collectible that captures the spirit of Rogue One. Jyn Erso has impressed us more than we expected. And it makes us want other characters from the film produced in the Premium Format Figures line as well. More are coming, but we hope that Sideshow Collectibles adds a few more to the roster before they move onto the next Star Wars Entertainment. It goes without saying that the current MSRP of Premium Format Figures has completely alienated the audience that used to buy these beautiful collectibles. $500 is a great deal of money, and not everyone can support this line when prices are this high.

Collector Notes

Jyn Erso

Played by British actress Felicity Jones, Jyn Erso is an exciting new character in the Star Wars universe. This independent and headstrong young woman with her defiant attitude and fighting spirit has already captured the imaginations of fans worldwide in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story!

Sideshow's Jyn Erso Premium Format Figure is ready for action in a hostile and unforgiving environment. She is wearing a hooded weatherproof poncho with a portable breather mask hanging loosely around her neck and respirator pouch on her hip. She is also carrying a Blaster Rifle and an additional BlasTech A-180 Blaster as a backup sidearm in a thigh holster. Whatever her mission, there's no doubt that she's prepared for the worst!

Our Jyn Erso Premium Format Figure features an incredibly realistic likeness of actress Felicity Jones that captures all of the charisma and personality that has already made her character so endearing. All of her movie-accurate clothing and equipment has been expertly duplicated with amazing attention to detail. The scratched and scarred Blaster Rifle, the contrasting textures of her individually tailored garments, the rusted metal elements and filthy plastic of her respirator equipment, even the tiny buttons, clips and buckles on her gear have been individually sculpted to attain a level of detail that is just astounding!

The statue features a beautifully sculpted and painted movie-inspired platform base, making this Premium Format Figure a proud focal point of your new Rogue One: A Star Wars Story collection!

The exclusive edition of the Jyn Erso Premium Format Figure includes an entirely new head sculpt with highly detailed hat and goggles.
