Sabine Wren was a Mandalorian warrior, explosives expert, and talented graffiti artist – qualities that came in handy as one of the first to rebel against the Empire.

While all of The Black Series [Phase III] wave 9 figures are highly anticipated, the one standout figure would have to be Sabine Wren. Without a doubt this figure has mind-blowing paint operations, an excellent sculpt and a nice handful of accessories that will make most fans of the 6” Star Wars line very, very happy. Sabine Wren isn’t without her issues (she does have a few), but the steps Hasbro has taken to do right by this figure far outweigh what they’ve done wrong with her. So ultimately she is going to be a slam dunk for the average collector. A controversial addition to the line, Sabine Wren’s winnings in the very first The Black Series 6” Fans’ Choice poll was controversial at best. Coming out of left field without any explanation, she unofficially became the runner up in the contest, ranking second to Darth Revan’s inordinate amount of votes. This miracle placement in the voting process was certainly discussed, but ultimately it didn’t matter than much. Hasbro was destined to get to her at some point in the line, and for some reason they felt she needed to be a winner to make some sort of statement. That first Fans’ Choice poll was a long time ago. And getting Sabine Wren and company now after waiting for so long seems like a punishment in and of itself. But hopefully all Star Wars collectors can rejoice when they see the final results. Because Sabine Wren is truly worthy of credit. You’re going to love this action figure, even if you don’t care too much about the television show.

An all-new sculpt, Sabine Wren is based off of her Season 1 appearance in Star Wars: Rebels. We expect to see a Season2/Season 3 version of her in the near future. Her colors are spectacular and beautifully applied. Everything is here and in place. She has a checkerboard right shoulder. There is a Rebel Alliance symbol on her left breast. There is some sort of dog/boar/wolf on her left shoulder armor. And there is a wonderful speckled pattern on her boots and gauntlets that supposedly are there to show wear and tear from being a Mandalorian warrior. The paint operations are absolutely astounding. You’re not even going to believe that Hasbro was involved in making her look this great. But they were. Every detail is clean and neat and we’re totally thrilled that the figure looks this incredible. What’s more, Hasbro gave Sabine Wren a removable helmet. It’s a little snug, but it keeps its shape beautifully over her bulbous head. It fits like a glove and complete her outfit perfectly. The detail on this accessory is beautiful too. She comes with two Mandalorian blasters that fit into the holsters on her belt. They’ve been painted nicely too. And she also comes with her signature spray gun, although we don't know how much paint can possible fit inside of it. (Is graffiti art REALLY a talent to combat the Empire as her bio suggests?!) It fits it her hands nicely as well. There is so little to complain about here in all honesty and the more we think about it the more impressed we are with Hasbro for doing such a great job here.

Her body is lean and athletic and has a great silhouette. The articulation system is totally functional too. Hasbro didn’t really work any extra or special articulation into Sabine Wren, but they used the standard articulation system that they’ve used since the beginning of the 6” line and it works just as well here. Sabine Wren is able to crouch, run, stand at attention, or draw her weapon. She will look flawless no matter how you pose her. She looks great with or without her helmet too, although some may take exception with how her face was painted. There are issues with the evenness of her eyes. Hasbro STILL needs some work in this department. But Sabine Wren’s hair is very nicely sculpted and painted that it sort of takes away from the issues we’re seeing with her eyes. As you can see from our photo gallery, Sabine Wren is eye-catching, beautiful, and one of the finest examples of what can be done in 6” scale. We would love to see this figure reduced down into super-articulated 3.75” scale one day, because a figure approached like this would be amazing in the smaller scale. Trust us when we say that Sabine Wren is going to be popular. We can’t stand the show and think Sabine Wren looks absolutely amazing. Again, she has a few issues (some of which are major stumbling blocks for some – eye placement is huge – we get it), but for us there is too much good overriding the wrong here. You should give this one a chance.
