An ace pilot, Poe Dameron is a leader in the Resistance's fight against the evil First Order. He soars into battle behind the controls of a modern X-wing fighter..

The rehashing has begun! With a rough start to The Force Awakens products launch that still hasn’t subsided yet, Hasbro is already rereleasing some of their most popular characters as exclusives, when maybe they should be general market releases instead. As if we don’t have enough Poe Dameron figures already (and in the Armor Up line already no less), Hasbro has opted to take his X-wing pilot outfit this time and include two screen inaccurate Armor Up accessories based on Forest and Snow themes and package it all together for Toys R Us. The Armor Up line has been controversial from day one. And it goes without saying that you love this line or hate it, there just isn’t any middle ground. Interestingly, the new costume gear included here makes Poe Dameron look like an Endor Rebel Soldier or Hoth Rebel Soldier depending on which gear you choose. Admittedly, we see the value in this for younger Star Wars fans, and if you’re into more exotic Star Wars toys, there is no denying that you might have some curiosity with this line. It has a vintage feel and quality to it that might draw in some of the more outside of the box collectors.

This Poe Dameron action figure is pretty much the same exact figure that comes with Poe's X-wing Fighter. It also should have been the basic figure because it is worlds better than the basic figure release (but that’s a different story). Sadly, although you get two Armor Up accessories, you don’t get the removable helmet here (for those looking not to dump a load of cash on that terrible vehicle). But this figure looks incredibly better than the Build A Weapon version. We still find it perplexing how such little effort went into this action figure. Thank goodness it comes with extra things to make it more meaningful. As you know, for this particular release, Poe Dameron utilizes that all-new body and head sculpt as well as a revised right leg that all came with the pack-in version. This figure can barely fit into the cockpit of his X-wing fighter, so maybe the Armor Up concept was a wise choice here so that kids have some valuable interactivity with the figure. Either way, at least we have a tremendous upgrade to the Build A Weapon figure. As a main character in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, Poe Dameron will be on the tops of many children’s wish lists.

Obviously Hasbro had to utilize the sculpt without a helmet so that the Armor Up accessories would interact with the figure well. But this really means that we’ve been given a better figure overall. It also means we’re missing an important accessory. We just really wish that Hasbro would have included this x-wing pilot helmet because this would have provided the best source for collectors to capture that pack-in figure without buying the vehicle. Poe Dameron also comes with a blaster pistol that can be posed in a holster that isn’t removable (unlike the Build A Weapon) figure. Both hands can hold the blaster pistol very well. The paint operations on the figure are quite clean and the Rebel Alliance/Resistance insignia looks perfectly applied. And the details on the reduced-in-size chest box are pretty much flawless. But do details like this even matter on a kids’ toy anymore? We jest, clearly. Exclusive to Toys R Us, Poe Dameron accompanies Captain Phasma and have shipped quite heavily right before the release of The Force Awakens. We’re quite interested to see where Hasbro takes the Armor Up line in the future. But it seems that the options are limitless, especially when the concepts aren’t screen accurate.
