Clone troopers CT-21-0408 and CT-27-5555, best known as Echo and Fives, served side by side in the Grand Army of the Republic, steadfastly defending their posts and attacking key targets during the great intergalactic conflict, The Clone Wars.

It’s become cliché at best to continually express that every new Sideshow Collectibles Militaries Of Star Wars 1:6 Scale Figure brings something new to the table, but it’s getting proven true with each successive release. The gradual improvements are so impressive that it quells our angst over getting “another” clone in the line, which frankly is bordering on sensory overload at this point. The offering of Echo And Fives based on their phase I clone trooper armor in The Clone Wars season 3 episode ARC Troopers however is nothing short of astounding and fans of this line will only grow more interested in it thanks to the marvelous deco Sideshow Collectibles has given them. Evidently obsessed with capturing the finest of details and fervent in their goal to ensure the most precise realism, Echo And Fives get royal treatment in this scale, but also as first time offered realistically styled interpretations of these fan favorite TCW characters. It goes without saying that the Armored body buck is overused. So it’s what Sideshow does with it that is key to capturing our attention. We know what a phase I clone trooper looks like in this scale. They’re great. They’re good. But they can become boring over time. Boring is absolutely the last adjective you’re going to apply to Echo And Fives. In fact, these 1:6 Scale Figures may have received the finest paint operations of any clone that has been encountered in the line to date by Sideshow. The look of these figure are that stunning.

We have always been partial to Echo. Although he received a rather bland color scheme on his armor for the first season of The Clone Wars, Echo was given a little more pizzazz by the third season. The hand print in eel’s blood remained on his chest, but a little more blue was added to the helmet and thigh armor. There are other differences too. What is so impressive about how Sideshow decorate the armor this time around is that it looks like there are actual cracks in it. Dark hard line accentuate the very pale off-white color of the armor and give it a true battle-damaged appearance. The armor isn’t strewn with these details, just here and there to give an incredible real life battle-worn appearance. What’s more, unless it’s something we have overlooked on previous figures, we notice a very neat oily type of battle-damage on the armor too, especially on the lower legs and feet. Whether Sideshow intended it to be more of a wet look or and oil based type of damage, it looks pretty incredible and it’s a style that we hope they utilize on future figures in the line. An extremely impressive “decal” has been added to his thigh armor of a chain gun with a circle around it. It looks like a logo to a firearms company or something, but it has been applied gorgeously. Just like the Hasbro figure from the Defend Kamino Battle Packs set, “FOR HEVY” is also inscribed in Aurebesh below the logo/commemorative decal. It’s purely stunning. We also can’t forget to mention to the eerily realistic head sculpt. Hasbro has come so far with human likenesses now. It’s beyond impressive, although it does appear that he is either wearing braces, or a grill, in his mouth.

Fives is equally impressive of course. His head sculpt has the number five tattooed on his top right forehead. He also has a five o’clock shadow where his facial hair should be and this is one small example that shows how the options are limitless for giving each clone his ironic uniqueness. He has a slightly droopy right eye, but for the most part we're happy with how the portrait turned out. Instead of the tribute “FOR HEVY” on his thigh armor, Fives decided to place this commemoration on his right shoulder armor. Smaller, the brilliance of how this looks and was applied is nothing short of incredible. His armor is similarly styled. (They are both a part of the 501st Legion so this obviously should be the case). Fives does have a uniquely decorate helmet and a different left thigh armor piece however, but aside from those differences they are otherwise quite similar. Each clone is generously accompanied by accessories, but you’re not inundated with hand attachments like you are with the single-released clones (something that makes us quite happy). Echo And Fives each come with a display stand, a DC-15 blaster rifle, a DC-15 blaster, six interchangeable hand attachments and a pair of interchangeable “action” boots. Interestingly, they don’t come with all of the same hand attachments, but you could easily swap these with the figures to create your own mix as well. And of course each figure has a human clone portrait as well as a phase I clone trooper helmet attachment. A fine release, especially for fans of The Clone Wars, it makes us happy to know that Sideshow isn’t abandoning this fertile Star Wars source to bring us some amazing high end collectibles.
