Celebrate the legendary Star Wars saga that changed the universe forever! This collection brings to life the incredible story of good versus evil that captured our imagination and took us to a galaxy far, far away. Iconic Star Wars heroes and villains are captured with incredible detail and premium features to commemorate each epic tale in the Star Wars saga. May the Force be with you!

"I am a Jedi, like my father before me." RETURN OF THE JEDI was a powerful conclusion to this epic saga of good versus evil. The whole world knows this film by its current title, which evokes the glorious return of the hero. But during filming, the movie was slated to be called REVENGE OF THE JEDI. Merchandise was developed based on this title, including Kenner action figure packaging. Then, late in production, there was a dramatic change. Shortly before the film was released, George Lucas decided the title should be RETURN OF THE JEDI. The final title carries a more appropriate emotional tone because, of course, a Jedi would not seek revenge.

To celebrate this monumental film and unique history of its title, we have created special packages of favorite characters from the movie, featuring the REVENGE OF THE JEDI title. May the Force be with you!

When Hasbro nails an action figure, they nail it, and it becomes an axiom of what collectors hope all future action figures should become. The second red phase of the Legacy Collection brought us some of the best action figures Hasbro ever produced in their lifetime, and one of the standout figures was Princess Leia (BD17). It set a new precedent for what Hasbro physically incorporated into their action figures. Not only did Princess Leia (BD17) come with a ton of accessories, but for the first time, Hasbro manufactured a static or prepositioned lower portion of the body (waist and below) so that aesthetically the figure would look perfectly natural in a seated position. It had little to no problems, and it’s one of the most impressive “accessories” Hasbro has paired with an action figure. Hasbro felt that this Princess Leia figure deserved a rerelease, and they brought it forward into The Vintage Collection as Princess Leia (Slave Outfit) (VC64). It’s a figure that all fanboys want to see in The Vintage Collection, but Hasbro egregiously left out the interchangeable lower body seated attachment. It would have fit into the packaging if Hasbro had rearranged the parts and accessories, so the exclusion of this significant piece is disheartening.

What’s more, it’s part of Hasbro’s “Revenge Of The Sith” promotion, so if you collect them all, you’ll need at least two to get all of the variations. From what we understand, many, many collectors missed out on the 2009 LC Princess Leia (BD17) figure during its original release. They’ll likely be upset that they can’t obtain the critical part that completes the figure, this time in The Vintage Collection. If the lack of this part doesn’t bother you, you’ll no doubt have a stellar action figure to join the rest of the characters from this lineup. We did not notice any differences in the figure this time around, and it’s terrific that Hasbro treated this as a straight repack. Princess Leia was nearly perfect the first time around. This time, collectors receive the force pike, chalice, and removable collar and chain combination piece. The figure splits at the waist (the articulation above the waist is a ball-jointed torso – specifically designed for use with seated, positioned legs), and the belt and soft-goods skirt are also removable. Princess Leia gives a slight impression that the figure’s stature is too short, but it isn’t. The figure, however, gives the illusion of being tinier than the on-screen character for some odd reason. Hopefully, you’ll be too busy enjoying the awesomeness of this than to be concerned with its height.

Although Hasbro picked some outstanding action figures to include in the 2011 Revenge Of The Jedi gimmick, there are many other choices that they seem to be neglecting. For example, many disagree with our opinion that Hasbro must rerelease 2008’s TLC Yarna d’al’ Gargan (BD 6) figure in The Vintage Collection, but until it happens, we won’t feel otherwise. We strongly feel that Yarna, in spirit, is the ideal candidate for the Revenge Of The Jedi promotion, as Kenner planned the character for the original toy run. There are many others we’d like to see released in The Vintage Collection, generally speaking. Key characters in key outfits like Princess Leia (Slave Outfit) are prime choices for this line indeed. But there are others they shouldn’t neglect. It will be interesting to see how far Hasbro takes The Vintage Collection. We’d personally love to see the line remain an evergreen for the Hasbro brand. The possibilities are endless. It may be unlikely, as Hasbro has a different opinion on the line. They’ve stated time and again that every “line look” has an expiration date to prevent staleness among consumers. However, ironically, we believe it’s the longevity of The Vintage Collection thus far that’s creating more interest in the basic figure line now than ever before. While we wait to see what transpires, we will enjoy figures like this. We hope you will, too.
