The new wave of Retro Collection figures based on the Disney+ The Book Of Boba Fett series made it out before the end of 2023, although Hasbro technically scheduled them as the first new wave of 2024. For reasons unknown, this Disney Star Wars wave feels the most like a wave Kenner would have produced in the late seventies and early eighties so far to date. Perhaps it’s because there is a Disney Star Wars counterpart for most of the figure types Kenner produced during their heyday, and this could be the connection we’re feeling. Regardless, the Cad Bane figure is expected in the Retro Collection. Although based on the character’s revised appearance in The Book Of Boba Fett, the character typically has standard gear, including a cowboy hat, two blaster pistols, and a duster and boots. Hasbro interestingly colored the face darker blue than what we see in the series, making us believe they used the character’s appearance from The Clone Wars as inspiration. And the five points of articulation don’t show off the figure’s details well. Cad Bane is a Duros that works best in the super-articulated formats. Hasbro did their best to recreate this character in a simple format, but overall, it doesn’t work all that well. The character photo is identical to the one from The Vintage Collection. However, the nameplate has a black font on the Retro Collection release and a white font on The Vintage Collection release.
