The men and women of the Rebel Alliance were fiercely dedicated to the principle of freedom, and would lay down their lives to win their objectives. Some were Imperials disillusioned with their government's tyranny. Some were from worlds subjugated by the Empire. In stark contrast to the faceless anonymity of the stormtrooper ranks or the precision drilling of Imperial Academy training, Alliance troops were aggressively individualistic and much more rag-tag.

Man! We all finally get a 1:6 Scale Rebel Commando that looks exactly like Nik Sant and then Sideshow Collectibles doesn’t officially call him that! Actually, if you read the liner notes on the figure, Sideshow does indirectly acknowledge that Nik Sant is indeed one of the three Rebel Commando 1:6 Scale Figures they designed for their 1:6 Scale Figure line. Not that this truly matters, Sideshow’s 1:6 Scale Figure version of the Rebel Commando (Pathfinder: Endor) is something that should make fans of the Militaries Of Star Wars line very, very happy. From an exquisite and believable military uniform to accessories that would thrill anyone, the Rebel Commando is such a refreshing character to have in this scale. (And long overdue we might add!) As we just mentioned, Hasbro never attempted this character for their own 1:6 Scale Figure line despite there being ample opportunity and lots of types to choose, but Sideshow Collectibles has made the wait very worthwhile as they have crafted excellent one-sixth scale versions of these popular Star Wars troopers. It seems that there is a major fan of Return Of The Jedi on the production team at Sideshow Collectibles and if this is the case or not, we are extremely thankful for the acknowledgement they give this film in their 1:6 Scale Figure line.

No detail was spared on the Rebel Commando’s uniform. His pants have a bright, yet natural looking camouflage pattern. And we are especially taken with his boots. There is a canvas wraparound that stays closely wound around each leg via eyelet grommets and real string. Just the fact that someone had to tie these all together is certainly something that should impress anyone. The boots are well-weathered and are shiny at the same time. And it looks very plausible that they have seen their share of Endor dirt during the climactic battle in Return Of The Jedi. And he comes outfitted in the perfect artillery as his large rifle is finished off with a real leather strap. (It is a beautifully sculpted accessory. Sideshow Collectibles should definitely have the license for scale replicas!) As you move up the body of [Nik Sant] you’ll appreciate the details Sideshow Collectibles has included in the different types of fabrics used to make his costume. His light long-sleeved undershirt looks fantastic under his khaki vest. And Sideshow crafted the most amazing backpack for him with a real tie string. Like we said, nothing was spared to make this figure as authentic as possible. Even the gator wraps above the boots are just purely a marvel to look at because it looks like this figure is really wearing a true military uniform. We hope these go over well with the collecting community.

Where the figure lacks is unavoidable at the moment, so it may be a moot point to bring it up. But the Rebel Commando utilizes the Art S. Buck body type, which Sideshow Collectibles has clearly admitted they have fallen out of love with now. So the figure can’t fill the backseat of his pants and the arms down lie close enough to the body at ease. (And there are some disproportionate areas of the body that are exaggerated because they too don’t fill the clothing as required entirely. Overall, it's a pretty wonky body type that doesn't favor Star Wars characters in our opinion. The earliest figures were a great start, but it's time to move on from this archaic body type. But instead of focusing on where the figure lacks, it would be wise to applaud its accomplishments. The removable helmet is a collector’s dream come true. It is mixed media, both soft-goods and plastic and comes with a real hanging leather strap. It fits his head perfectly and can be held in his hands without issue. The Rebel Commando’s hands are gloved. Since we really don’t see these troopers without gloves on, this works out very well on the 1:6 Scale Figure. Overall, the Rebel Commando (Pathfinder: Endor) is an exciting addition to the Militaries Of Star Wars line and we could be happier that Sideshow Collectibles finds ways to make this sub-collection so interesting and exciting for collectors of it.
