Identical in form, physical prowess, stamina and mental capacity, each of the first generations of clone troopers was grown in the cloning facilities of Tipoca City, on the storm-drenched world of Kamino. Within the hermetic confines of the secret facility, the politically ambivalent Kaminoansapplied their mastery of genetic sciences to craft what they deemed the finest of clone armies.
It’s pretty cool when non-Hasbro licensees pay homage to Hasbro in ways that may not be readily seen that apparent. When Medicom Toy decided to start making the clone trooper officers from Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones, they actually chose the same ones Hasbro did to complete first. The 2002 Star Wars "Saga" KB Toys exclusive Clone Trooper Captain and Commander were released in limited numbers back during the 2002-2004 Star Wars "Saga" line under Hasbro. Years later, Medicom Toy also makes them the first two candidates for their extremely impressive Real Action Heroes line. These awesome one-sixth scale representations of the Episode II phase I clone troopers are more than worthy additions to your collection. They aren’t perfect, but they’re excellent. They don’t have the mobility we would have hoped for, but they are nicely sculpted and the little bit of colorful paint they do have is flawlessly applied. (We also would have loved to see a lot more dirt on these figures, but Medicom chose to go with a clean look here. The Clone Trooper Commander (Attack Of The Clones Ver.) is just what your collection needs and with as small as a run it has, it may not be possible for everyone to grab one unfortunately. Only a shocking 250 pieces of this figure have been produced. That is the smallest edition size of any Star Wars Medicom Toy Real Action Heroes one-sixth figure to date.
The attention to detail is good and the armor is closely fitted to the figure's body, perhaps to the figure’s detriment. The figure has limited mobility and we had a very hard time posing his midsection and upper body thanks to the armor despite it technically being super-articulated. The body glove under the armor moves around the figure quite easily. This should allow for better movement of the armor and we guess it does, but the separate pieces don’t interact well with each other creating unnecessary stiffness. (We believe there just isn’t enough space in between all of the pieces to make this work well.) The armor is constructed from a more rubbery vinyl (it’s actually PVC plastic) and bends when pressed. We think Medicom Toy should have opted to use a much stronger AVS plastic that holds it shape and it not influenced by pressure. The Clone Trooper Commander utilizes the same exact body as the earlier released white Clone Trooper so collectors of this line really have nothing new to worry about here. But we should point out that the color flashes really add a whole new perspective to the plain design. (And they have been painted so beautifully on this figure.) For the most part, this figure shines. The color flashes add so much "personality" to the bland "all-white" clones.
Status: Clone Trooper Commander (Attack Of The Clones Ver.) is a rework of 2008's Clone Trooper (Attack Of The Clones Ver.) Real Action Heroes figure. It has now been given yellowd color flashes to denote it as a commander. Its edition size was limited to a mere 250 pieces.
