As the galaxy struggles in the oppressive grip of the tyrannical Empire, a meagerly equipped Rebel Alliance strives to strike a victory against their overwhelming foe. Slim hope comes when secret plans to the Empire's mighty Death Star are stolen by Rebel spies, but when Princess Leia's starship is attacked and boarded by Darth Vader and his troops, she is forced to hide them in the memory banks of an astromech droid named R2-D2. Fleeing with the secret plans, he and his counterpart, the protocol droid C-3PO, escape to the backwater planet of Tatooine leaving the Empire to begin an exhaustive search of the barren world.

Eventually the droids find their way into the possession of idealistic young Luke Skywalker, whose dreams of adventure and excitement far away are fulfilled at terrible cost when the Empire's stormtroopers come looking for them. Along with the droids and the wise Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke embarks upon a mission to return the lost plans to the Rebellion, enlisting the services of the bold and brash smuggler Han Solo and his loyal Wookiee co-pilot Chewbacca. Discovering the beautiful Princess Leia scheduled for execution aboard the Death Star itself, Luke's noble endeavor soon turns into a fumbling rescue and a desperate escape. All now depends on the heroes escaping the Empire's grip and restoring the secret plans to the Rebels.

From ordinary surroundings, Luke undertakes an epic journey, as much of growth in himself as one of distance and time, to become something greater than he could have ever imagined, a hero. Though he wields a lightsaber and flies a starfighter, Luke is still a young man at heart just like any other, struggling to find himself in the universe, although the Force is strong with him.

Probably the quintessential symbol of the Star Wars universe, Luke Skywalker as seen in his moisture farmer threads beckons nostalgia in collectors like no other character. And while this outfit of our favorite hero has been probably one of the most attempted in collectible lines, very few have passed the stringent critique of the hardest core fans. Sideshow Collectibles put the task of creating one of the best Luke Skywalker figures ever into overdrive with their 1:6 Scale Figure version of Luke Skywalker (Moisture Farmer: Tatooine) in the Heroes Of The Rebellion line. It is quite a sight to behold and easily ranks as one of our all time favorites in the entire line. Sideshow must have known that they created something spectacular too, because it was the first 1:6 Scale Figure in the Star Wars line to jump up to $69.99. This made a lot of collectors gasp. But as hindsight is always 20/20, $69.99 ended up being quite reasonable once we started receiving the clone troopers and stormtroopers at $89.99 a pop and higher. We don’t mean to go off course with a complaint about the price. Let us steer you back to the fact that this figure is worth every penny (and then some). Sideshow has spared no expense to give this figure all of the accessories it needs. This mixed with a brilliant and very accurate costume and very unique portrait makes this the definitive 1:6 Scale Luke Skywalker action figure ever produced to date. It may not be the most perfect likeness of Mark Hamill we have seen, but it certainly is awesome and we think it suits this figure flawlessly.

Luke Skywalker is loaded with accessories. Whether it was reverse psychology, or Sideshow Collectibles simply buttering us up for the price hike, this 1:6 Scale Figure come with a ton of stuff. Besides the standard costume which includes a shirt, pants and boots, Luke has a detailed belt with functioning pouches, poncho, long rifle, electrobinoculars, droid caller, lightsaber hilt, lit lightsaber and two sets of extra hand attachments. Exclusive collectors will be the fortunate ones to complete the look of the moisture farmer poncho with the floppy hat and goggles, only found in 1,977 of these figures. Trust when we tell you that you are going to want to get these exclusive accessories as they really make this figure truly extra special. All of the colors of the costume and accessories are flawless. And we are thoroughly impressed with the real-cloth straps that wrap around his legs from right below the knees all the way down to the ankles. It looks absolutely spectacular. Luke’s shirt has a beautiful weave that looks exactly like real linen. And his pants look to be a finer knit almost like cotton. While his shirt is baggy (as it should be), his expertly crafted belt gathers it as necessary to create a nice drape that looks fitted to his skinny frame. Luke Skywalker utilizes the Art S. Buck body. This mold definitely has its issues, but Sideshow clearly worked around its issues to make a totally awesome 1:6 Scale Figure here. While you may experience issues of his arms falling down after you posed them in an upright position or his hips spreading out too wide when putting him in an action stance, the stand he comes with remedies almost every issue you may encounter while trying to make him stand upright.

When the Star Wars reached its 30th anniversary in 2007, Sideshow celebrated the first film in grand style and that year we had the good fortune of pre-ordering Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker (Rebel Hero: Yavin), Commander Praji and Han Solo (Smuggler: Tatooine) among others to celebrate the landmark event. Of course that many of these figures didn’t become available until a year later, but it was nice to get a focus of Star Wars characters from the first film to help commemorate things. We still think however, that Luke Skywalker was probably the best figure of the bunch and it is absolutely the definitive figure to date. If we were to nitpick about this figure, we would criticize that the hair is too dark. But if you watch the film, Luke’s hair color varies drastically from one scene to the next. And while we have already explained that his expression may not be the greatest representation of Luke, we absolutely love the contemplative expression it has. One other small issue is his height. When a company utilizes the same body template for all of their figures, they all begin becoming the same height. And even though Sideshow has a short and tall male body for the Art S. Buck, we think someone may have goofed because this Luke appears a little too tall. All these small issues are a drop in the bucket when compared to all the positivity this figure brings. Luke Skywalker (Moisture Farmer: Tatooine) is one impressive 1:6 Scale Figure and it would be a crying shame not to ensure this figure takes place in your collection at some point. 1:6 Scale Figures are not for everybody, but for those of you that do collect them, this is one figure not to pass by because it would be a tragedy.
