The Jedi High Council is the main interface between the Jedi and the government of the Republic. The twelve High Council members are chosen from the ranks of the Jedi Masters and represent a gathering of great minds who have proven themselves and their abilities in the service of peace and justice.

It is often wondered why Hasbro goes to great lengths to make the release of Star Wars action figures more interesting, but what they seemingly fail to realize is all we need is every new action figure they make on an individual card back. Admittedly, sometimes this just isn’t always possible. After all, not all accessories are small enough to fit inside of a standard 3.75” figure package and sometimes it’s important to recreate scenes from the films that showcase three interactive characters in one fell swoop. This is where the Scene Packs line came into play. Modern interpretations of the now classic POTF2 Cinema Scenes, Hasbro broke the format quite a bit to include, as accurate as possible, scene specific large accessories while maintaining a theme. Perhaps the most notable was 2002’s Star Wars “Saga” Death Star Trash Compactor, but Hasbro revisited this platform and its presentation and culled together some truly wonderful multipacks that gave us multiple first time offerings in the action figure line. Jedi High Council (Featuring Mace Windu, Oppo Rancisis & Even Piell) is a testament to this newfound vision and offers something that fans have wanted for a very long time: the characters and environmental pieces of the Jedi High Council.

Hasbro has a long way to go to complete all 12 of the esteemed members of the Jedi Council, and we should also note that at this rate there are going to be extra members since we are getting three per set. This will be nice to complete the differing Jedi High Council cast that exist between The Phantom Menace and Attack Of The Clones. But the very first set offered focuses on Attack Of The Clones and provides collectors with three all-new figures which is sure to excite many. Mace Windu, Even Piell and Oppos Rancisis are the first three on tap and they all have been tooled with extra loving care. Mace Windu may not be the most exciting figure of this three-pack, but Hasbro significantly updated his articulation and it is the best version of Mace Windu in the entire Star Wars “Saga” line. He doesn’t come with any cool accessories like a lightsaber, but his Jedi High Council chair is included instead and he sits on it rather perfectly. He even comes with soft-goods so he can sit effortlessly. The inclusion of premium ball-jointed articulation just sells this figure home entirely. We have to say that we’re quite impressed with the final figure. But the greatness of this set doesn’t come close to stopping here.

Even Piell is fantastic. Sure, he only comes with five points of swivel articulation, but his sculpt is so well done that it should hold up very well over time. His head sculpt in particular is astounding. Every crease, scar and scowl is in place and he rounds out the set wonderfully. He also has a very nice paint job, although his hands and head seem to be mismatched in color, but it’s not the end of the world. He doesn’t come with a chair, but we suppose then that the Jedi High Council base is his exclusive accessory then. (We kid of course, but fair is fair.) But our favorite figure of the set is Oppo Rancisis. This Thisspiasian male Jedi Master has received and excellent sculpt and paint job and we couldn’t be more pleased with the production figure. What’s more, Hasbro added a “bendy” tail to the figure which allows you to curl it around his unique Jedi Council chair like a resting snake. His exquisitely detailed hands and multiple arms make him a truly standout character and we feel Hasbro did a fantastic job with him. As you can see, Hasbro is off to a great start with the Scene Packs that are focusing on the Jedi High Council. This is only a jumping off point and we know great things are in store.
