Hasbro's Existing Parts Can Make A Beautiful Vintage Kenner Ugnaught

JTA reader and friend Sebastian E. was inspired to customize an Ugnaught action figure based on our description in the Collect All 92! post we did a few days ago. Look how awesome it looks. And to think Hasbro has this tooling available right now as we speak. This would make a fine real addition to The Vintage Collection! Again, this customized figure is made up of parts from 2009’s TLC Ugnaught (BD 43) and 2009’s LC Ugnaught (BD28) figures.

    yes. yes. yes.

also, cant you make a pretty darn close Yogxit using existing parts? just put this Ugnaught’s head (in example shown above) on the other’s body and repaint outfit to red and gloves to black. the belt is a tad off but not bad.
Or is the smock on this one removable, because the underclothing looks similar to Yoxgit sans the coloring?

    • Rivesjunctionite

Yes, make it a running change variation.
Or are they shipping too few cases to do that any more?

  • Caleb

It’s settled, I’m having bacon for breakfast.

  • strangely I believe that Ugnaughts are always needed…it’s like Jawas, there’s no such a thing as too much Jawas… also make it in 6” too

    • Rivesjunctionite

Especially since you can make ugnaughts that look different. Just like the Ewoks Hasbro has given us.

Plus there aren’t too many aliens from ESB. Ugnaughts and bounty hunters are mostly it.

As much as I want to see the original 92(or 96 or whatever), at $14-$15 I’m not that crazy about all the repacks being suggested. Especially from someone who is an opener. THIS figure however would be an automatic purchase.

    • bmales01

I’m with you. As an opener, repacks on Vintage cards dont excite me. I never collected an unopened wall full of TVC figs. I’d rather have new figs, even if they are smart repaints, kit-bashes, or at least army builders

      • You can army build any non named character… who doesn’t remember that famous story about the Ugnaught army…

        • bmales01

If the story includes a GoT type battle between jawas, ugnaughts, and ewoks, then count me in!

          • …that’s the one… amazing story telling…

I actually go by the rule of two. I have all but three TVC figures carded. I just don’t think I really NEED all the straight repacks of original Kenner figures again. I mean, it would be nice to see Chewie and Artoo on TVC cards, but at the asking price it’s just not worth it anymore. I usually skip repacks. If I’m going for a complete set I get one to keep carded. Obviously there’s no need for an opener in that case. If the new TVC is going to be a success we need new figures. I also think it’s unrealistic to expect Hasbro to focus so much on the OT. If we get 25% OT I’d be surprised. I’d guess about 60% new Disney material stuff, 20% OT and the rest PT, TCW and EU. Also, I think Hasbro is full of crap with the excused for the wave one TFA repacks. The 5poa unmasked Kylo Ren head fits the SA figure. Would it really require that much effort to include it as an accessory? Same goes for Rey having a saber and blaster. They easily could’ve made the FO Stormtrooper a squad leader or FN-2199 with existing parts.

          Agreed , absolutely !

    • Logan

You don’t have to buy them carded. Just wait for tunghori to list them on his eBay store.

  • ARC-77

Hasbro’s existing parts can make a lot of beautiful figures.

  • I need this Ugnaught.

  • SteveU1

We need an updated yavin ground crew. With the gray jump suit. Only time we got that figure i think is in that yavin battle Pack that sells for 200-300 its crazy. If we did get it again someone please let me know

    • DutchVander

It also came in a TRU Exclusive set that included just that figure and the transport from the Yavin set, but its just as difficult to acquire as the original battlepack.

      • SteveU1

Yea its crazy. That figure needs a re-release big time. Was going to do an xwing scene and realized that figure is no where to be found.

  • Jebediaah

I’d buy him on that card in a heartbeat.

  • CJ

This is fine, but I’d prefer a new ugnaught. Preferably Hapnix. I don’t care of it matches the vintage deco.

  • Wunderbar work as always, Sebastian!!! 😉

  • Mother_Talzin

A simple part swap figure would be a difficult purchase for me, especially if it came single packed. At the rumored $15 pricepoint, we should get two of these guys (or a large accessory). I’d like to see something similar to the Jawa 2-pack from the TBS line, that was a good value, and they sold very well.

  • DutchVander

Also possible to kitbash a perfect A-wing pilot in the same manner- (I think this is by the same guy ) https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/e3b30dec95f2e371a853e884f2cc1e40790552cb21a545a3aea897399569cdca.jpg

    • It is indeed. 😉 Important for this figure is the Mon Cal pilot body (TVC), its the only one with an screen-accurate flight suit… Just replace the hands with pilot gloves, new head (bit of work on the joint) plus helmet….et voila. 🙂

  • Ugnaught is one of those perfect Star Wars species names that sums up what you think of them immediately.

  • TKR_330

    Spot on, well done!!!

  • I like how the original Kenner version of Ugnaught looks more like he should be an extra from Pigs In Space.

  • Kerr Roeder

Paul, with all the talk of the return of TVC, has Hasbro or anyone said anything about producing more official Star Wars display cases? I’m still short for what I have now, let alone new waves of figures coming out.
