You may wonder why the 2015 Star Wars movie hardly anyone talks about anymore gets a headline today. Well, Hollywood box office still has to reach pre-pandemic levels, in fact total domestic US box office in 2022 is on the same level as it was in 1999, with about $7.3 billion in 2022 (unadjusted for inflation!), which is $4 billion less than in 2019, the last year before Covid disrupted the movie business. It’s better than in 2021 and 2020 (much better), but still a far cry from what Hollywood used to make.
Much of the underperformance of the Hollywood movie business is attributed to the pandemic and changed viewing habits, with people allegedly preferring to watch movies on streaming platforms instead of going to the local cinema. So it’s of note when in times like these a new movie is released that just beat the #4 movie of all time at the worldwide box office (The Force Awakens): Avatar – The Way Of Water. I will talk more about that later, but another reason I bring up Avatar is that it once more points the finger at one of the core weaknesses of Star Wars. And what is that weakness? The time has come! The best Imperial Stormtrooper ever in 3.75″ scale is starting to arrive in collectors’ homes. Thanks to Sergio K. for the image. I have seen reports of cards being charged from EE and BBTS, so start watching for emails and whatnot if you have this on pre-order. Has anyone had their cards charged for the solid cases of Stormtroopers yet? Let us know if you’ve gotten your case or are anticipating it soon in the comments!
We reviewed these figures weeks ago too! Check them out HERE!
Pre-order Wave 6 from Entertainment Earth here.
Randomly searching for some missing items needed for my collection on eBay, I couldn’t help but notice that toys for The Force Awakens list for much lower than The Power Of The Force “2” era Hasbro toys. Sure, adds a premium to older products, but all of the stuff from 1995-2000 were a dime a dozen.
If you saw the arresting and spectacular final “Rick Grimes” episode of The Walking Dead last night, you were officially introduced to actress Cailey Fleming (although she did appear in a couple of “flashback” episodes earlier in the series). Interestingly, Cailey played “young Rey” in The Force Awakens flashback scene and is now promoted to series regular in The Walking Dead as Judith Grimes as the series time jumps six years ahead. The Walking Dead has resurrected itself to its glory years, and last night’s episode proved that. Too bad stupid Chris won’t care.
Here we go again. Pallets and pallets of unsold The Force Awakens 5POA are still arriving at Ollie’s for $2.99 per figure. Additionally, the Jedha Revoly four-pack is arriving in droves too. You have to wonder if there is any interest for them by collectors to shell out $3 per figure. Your mileage may vary. Special thanks to JTA reader Ed D. for the image and report.
My dad sent me a picture of the PZ-4CO action figure that he picked up today. I had remembered reading somewhere that “Peazy” was of feminine programming, so I looked it up just for fun. I stumbled upon an obscure interview with the actress who portrayed Peazy. Click through for more…

Wow! Last night JTA reader Bryan L. sent us news that retailer 99 Cents has the Battle Action Millennium Falcon for only $19.99. This report comes from southern California. Does something like this once again fall into the “penny wise/pound foolish” pot when it comes to Hasbro? Did dumbing this classic vehicle down really pay off?
JTA moderator Sjefke has found The Force Awakens Battle Action Millennium Falcon at his local Tuesday Morning store for $49.99.
Halloween has passed, but hopefully a scary joke will still work? Typically jokes about Constable Zuvio are played out at this point, bu this is a good one. What is scarier than seeing Zuvio at your local retailer still? Click through to find out the answer.
JTA Facebook reader Glenn PW sends us photographic evidence that select The Force Awakens and Rogue One figures have been spotted at Ollie’s for those of you fortunate enough to have a store near you!
Hasbro Toy Shop’s eBay store has added new stock, but they have also placed many pieces of their current stock on significant discount. There are a ton of figures marked down to the $2 to $3 range and they even have some 6″ figure for less than $10 each. Check it out, you may find something you’re looking for and if you spend $14.99 it all ships for FREE!
In case you’re interested, Ollie’s Bargain Outlet chains are receiving The Force Awakens basic figures. JTA reader Ed D. sends us word that he found Rey, Han, Finn (with bloody helmet), Rex, Unkar Plutt, Hassk Thug, various First Order Stormtroopers, and of course Constable Zuvio.
JTA reader and friend Michael O. alerts us to another Five Below find. I haven’t heard these particular figures hitting this retail collection, but I may have just forgotten. Regardless, this was the first time Michael has ever seen this figures at retail! Sad!
JTA Canadian reader Jamie D. sends us a remarkable store report. Do you remember the Amazon exclusive First Order Legion boxed set with seven figures? They have now shown up at Toys R Us in Canada for only $29.99 (original MSRP on Amazon was $47.99). As you know, these nearly go for $100 on Amazon today, so this is quite a surprising store find. Let us know if you see these in your local stores. I wonder why Amazon didn’t sell through their stock because once they sold out they never replenished and collectors wanted these. And I also wonder if American collectors will see this at their TRU stores. Weird. On a related note, I wonder if this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to unsold TFA toys….
It’s probably a good bet that collectors of the 3.75″ The Last Jedi line will see Hasbro double their efforts when it comes to articulation in the line. (more….)
