The Black Series [Phase IV] Bib Fortuna 6-inch figure is nice, but it isn’t perfect. And it uses parts from an older figure. Learn more by reading the review. (more….)
But they could have prevented it. A few additions would have made this a surefire hit, and collectors might not have balked at its price. But wow. That Jabba’s Palace Throne Room playset environment is something else, isn’t it? That said, you know from the comments that its price is staggering, and collectors are saying “no way.” Collectors are being forced into a “direct to market” scenario as it’s a Hasbro Pulse exclusive. And there were so many ample opportunities they could have incorporated to make this The Vintage Collection centerpiece shine above anything else released previously. Well, maybe save for The Khetanna. With just about 15 minutes of talking about this item with my good friend John McCartney, we came up with many ideas to guarantee this release some incredibly enormous success (and enthusiasm). We have just one word for The Vintage Collection Bib Fortuna: WOW. (more….)
Today Hasbro gave us a look at 4 new additions to The Black Series line, 3 of which were announced as pipeline reveals in previous livestreams earlier this year. Click below to check out Bib Fortuna, Echo, Omega, and Stormtrooper (Jedha Patrol).
Welcome to another entry in our The Vintage Collection: The Ninety Six column. Hasbro recently committed to collectors that they will be “focusing” on characters in The Vintage Collection that fall under “The Ninety Six” banner. If you’re new to this, it means that there needs a modern counterpart for every classic Kenner figure. Between 2020 and 2021, Hasbro’s made an admirable effort by focusing on these characters. But there is more work to be done, and we’ll figure out where we are step by step. Today we assess Bib Fortuna.
Hasbro revealed more Retro Collection and The Vintage Collection specialized figures today, including prototype and carbonized figures. There are also more Original 96 figures to add to the line, including the reveal of VC200. Click through for the detailed breakdown and discussion. Here’s a summary of what was announced:

Hasbro: First and foremost, THANK YOU for announcing that the long-awaited update to Bib Fortuna is finally coming in The Vintage Collection. It’s a quintessential character for the RETURN OF THE JEDI collection of characters in TVC. Previous Hasbro teams made it clear in the past that 2005’s TSC Bib Fortuna (SAGA 003) figure would be the last attempt on this character. Never say never! That said, we need to get this Bib Fortuna right, and the most important aspect of this figure will be its facial expression. Some characters and their action figures are “dependent” on a spectacular head sculpt, and Bib Fortuna is one of them. We should probably also talk about how Hasbro should address the rest of the figure as well. (more….)
Hasbro has claimed that 2021 will be a renewed focus for the Kenner 96. And there is one character is desperate need of an update that is once again relevant in Disney Star Wars, something that makes an action figure for the character extra special. Appearing in a cameo in the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian, it appears Bib Fortuna is now in control of Jabba’s Palace. I just found out thanks to YouTube! (more….)
In 1984, new packaging for Star Wars figures was introduced for the European market. A cost containment initiative, the new packaging sported three languages of the Return Of The Jedi logo for a “one size fits all” approach. Although a “three-logo” design was created for The Power Of The Force line (as evidenced on some ‘boxed’ toys), it wasn’t carried over to the basic figure line’s card design. They continued to use the three Return Of The Jedi logos instead. Although the word “Trilogo” is found nowhere on the packaging, the term is universally adopted by all Star Wars collectors to describe this line of figures.
Today we revisit Bib Fortuna. For the Trilogo card art, not many changes exist from the Kenner release other than a different wash. See the full card art and additional notes by revisiting 1983’s RETURN OF THE JEDI Bib Fortuna figure HERE.
