Let’s check out Baze Malbus from the Elite Series line. It’s one of the best human likenesses in the Elite Series line and is nicely executed. Learn more in our Research Droids Reviews today! We have a sneak peek for you tonight of the latest wave of Two-Packs sets. Interestingly, one of them this time is a three-pack. The Rose (First Order Disguise)/BB-8/BB-9E set is about as average as they come. The new sculpt of Rose is nice, but the deco is not great. The BB units are all-new sculpts as well, and they look about average. But their Force Link sound effects are divine. You can tell them apart too. BB-8 is more high-pitched, and BB-9E is mostly lower tones. It’s like they communicate by farting. It’s great. (The Disney Parks versions are infinitely better. We’ve added comparison pictures for you to see for yourselves.) The Chirrut Imwe/Baze Malbus is a pure joy if you’re a fan of the film. Chirrut finally gets his bowcaster rifle and says one-half of his immortal line from the film. Hasbro goofed by not completing it with Force Link. (We’re quite disappointed by this.) Baze Malbus is more of the same, but it’s cool to have him talk this time. Anyway, click the thumbnails below to check out the Photo Gallery and Collector Notes for each review now. Full reviews start tomorrow!
If you’re interested, the Baze Malbus/Chirrut Imwe Force Link Two-Packs set is up for pre-order on Amazon with December 15th availability. This is the only way to get the talking versions of these characters! The accessories look repainted as well. And I am sure the figures are new from a certain point of view as well. Special thanks to JTA reader Scott M. for the alert!
If you have The Black Series [Phase III] Baze Malbus and Chirrut Imwe solid case figures on pre-order, there is a pretty sure chance you’re not going to get them from where you’ve pre-ordered them. Hasbro has cancelled production on these figures and orders will not be filled. Then again, if there are efforts to get these back into production by retailers, the possibility exists that we could see them again, albeit very unlikely at this point. But if you see them now, you should probably grab them if you need ’em!
The Baze and Chirrut TBS 6″ figures may arguably be some of the most difficult to find. The fact that they were single packed in a case with 4 carry overs did NOT make it easy for people to find them. Heck, I STILL haven’t seen them in a store and I only have them because I got lucky on Amazon early on. Good news may be on the horizon for those still searching for these retired Guardians of the Whills. JTA reader Anthony reports that his Entertainment Earth April pre-orders are due to ship out Monday. Hopefully that means more solid cases are making the rounds. Might be time to get your orders in from EE!
