Anakin is sent to rescue the kidnapped son of Jabba the Hutt, an act that will not only save an innocent life but also give the Republic free passage through the Hutt's systems. Tracking the Huttlet to the remote planet Teth, Anakin is caught in a web of deceit and betrayal as he and his team battle to free Jabba's son... and escape with their lives.

Back when The Clone Wars action figure line was first announced and shown, collectors were initially disappointed to find out that Hasbro was going to be creating them in an animated style. Once the figures were released, they were quickly embraced by most, but every now and again there are pleas from select collectors and they still ask if there will be any realistic styled figures based on the television series coming out. Hasbro has answered with a resounding "no" but if the Star Wars line has taught us anything, it's that "anything" is possible. After we had received our first wave of animated figures in July of 2008, most fans seem happy with the line and so far the biggest complaint has been the lack of articulation the figures possess. We personally think that the level of articulation is just fine for the line and are of the opinion that only a select few figures could use some extra joints. Anakin Skywalker is a beautifully sculpted figure and replicated well from his appearance in the television series. There are very few things (in our opinion) that could make him much better than he is. Probably the most important character of The Clone Wars, does the action figure of Anakin deliver everything needed to be a successful action figure of this level of importance? Well, the answer lies somewhere between "yes" and "no".

Anakin Skywalker has a limited ten points of articulation and while this is merely conjecture on our part, this figure could have benefitted from super-articulation. And we think our opinion is a fair representation of the voice of the fans too. He was brilliantly sculpted and has all the right spots where joints could have been very well hidden, so we are a bit surprised by Hasbro's approach for this figure. Since he is a character that is anything but sedentary, we thought for sure he would have received the ultimate articulated treatment. But he didn't and we still can say that the figure is so well done despite this. He is colored perfectly and his chest plate has all the right weathering you would expect a battle-damaged piece of armor to look like. And the rest of his Jedi gear is flawlessly replicated to his appearance in The Clone Wars film and television series. As an extra footnote here, collectors may want to pay close attention to the strand of hair that falls down his forehead and separates from the rest on his head. It has been the subject of very poor paint applications and we had to pass on quite a few samples before we found one that met our very particular standards. This may not be an issue for the casual collector, but we take the smallest deco details seriously and nicely painted samples do make a huge difference for this figure.

Anakin Skywalker comes with a vast array of accessories. They include a lightsaber, cable with handles, oversized gauntlet, and a Force-effect projectile (that fires from the gauntlet). This is certainly more than enough accessories for any action figure, especially Anakin. Many add a nice play values for kids while others have a more realistic accessory for the serious collector. Anakin is outfitted with all the right gear to make everyone happy and Hasbro has done a great job to ensure that most every figure they make today meets all criteria. Appearing in [almost] every episode thus far in The Clone Wars, don't expect the character of Anakin Skywalker to go anywhere. And you can also expect this action figure to be revisited and reinvented into many future releases as a single basic figure or as part of a multipack. Anakin Skywalker is an excellent action figure and Hasbro has gotten all of the fine details straight with the first take. Anakin Skywalker in summary is one of the most important and best action figures to grace The Clone Wars line. Perhaps his main character status influences this, but even if he was a background character we would still be inclined to unwaveringly admit that he is one of the best, super-articulated or not.
