Visit Our All-new Visual Guide Index Page

Posted by Chuck | August 29, 2013 at 09:42 AM ET |

In order to stream-line the front page we have removed our Visual Guides branching menu and replaced it with a directly-linked banner to our brand new Visual Guide Index page, which better matches our Research Droids Reviews Index page for more consistancy in finding the various Star Wars lines. You can still find our easy one-click menu on all of the Visual Guide Index pages for each navigation when jumping from guide-to-guide. You can also find a new home link on the left side of every page for a quick jump back to our main page. We're still fine-tuning our graphics and layout, so bear with us and please feel free to leave feedback in our comments on what works (or doesn't work) for you! Just look for the Visual Guides banner at the top left of each and every page to jump you right to the main Visual Guide Index!

Keep your eyes open over the next few days as we add two very related exclusives to both our Visual Guides and Research Droids Reviews!

30 (77-07) Redux - Wave 11 (2008 Wave 2)

Posted by Chuck | February 13, 2013 at 09:57 PM ET |

We have always felt that the 30 (77-07) is one of the greatest collections of figures Hasbro has done to date. While not all of them were made in the expected super-articulated fashion that’s become standard today, many of the figures brought into the line are nonetheless done so well from the start that they will likely never see an update again. We will be releasing updates to this very cherished line wave by wave. We have updated our Visual Guides and we’ve processed all-new expanded galleries and a new “stats box” that mimics the card backs of the figures in the line in our Research Droids Reviews. We've reached the final wave from one of the best lines Hasbro has produced: The delayed The Force Unleased wave. Fans of the game will enjoy these 7 figures, almost all completely new sculpts! Click through as we break this wave down...

Oh, and let's not forget about the tremendous upgrade to Obi-Wan Kenobi which in our opinion is the best Episode III likeness of the character to date. 30 (77-07) Redux - Wave 9 - With Intro By Dan Curto

We have updated our Visual Guides and we’ve processed all-new expanded galleries and a new “stats box” that mimics the card backs of the figures in the line in our Research Droids Reviews. We could tell you how we feel about this final wave of 2007, but we thought it best explained by Dan Curto, who played a key role in the selection process for this wave....

When The Force Unleashed video game release was delayed in 2007, Hasbro decided to pull out a wave of 7 action figures that were based on characters that appeared in the game. This opened up the door for a new "repaint wave" to be added to the line. I was invited to participate in a weekend brainstorming session held over Easter weekend, and I worked directly with Hasbro to select the 7 replacement figures...

Standouts include the Tartakovsky realistically inspired Voolvif Monn, a fantastically interchangeable Padmé Amidala, one of our most favorite Jango Fett interpretations (to date) and of course the brilliant Concept Rebel Trooper. The only downside to this wave was the transformation of Anakin's spirit to the likeness of Hayden Christensen. Some things are just better left alone. And, as with all previous waves, the McQuarrie Concept Figure did not disappoint!
