It's All About The DS .. And We Don't Mean Death Star!

We got a case of figures direct from the big H and it included a nice mixture of Waves 12 & 13. (We won't mention the Qui-Gon that was part of the assortment yet). Some very interesting things were going on in this case. Especially with the date stamps! Click through for the report!

First of all, it's odd this case is called W2.2 12. We would not consider this to be the second wave of 2012. Traditionally each new assortment of figures has it's own wave. And since this case contained the figures below we find it odd it would be a "second revision of wave 2" rather than "wave 4" of 2012:

1x VC75 Qui-Gon Jinn
1x VC86 Darth Maul
1x VC92 Anakin Skywalker
1x VC93 Darth Vader
1x VC95 Luke Skywalker Hoth
1x VC87 Luke Skywalker Deleted Scene
1x VC58 Aayla Secura
1x VC59 Nom Anor
1x VC60 501st Clone Trooper
1x VC56 Kithaba
1x VC57 Dr. Evazan
1x VC28 Wedge Antilles

We've been keeping up with the reports at Yakface about the Dr. Evazan & Kithaba variants. But what was confusing about the figures in this case was that Dr. Evazan was the pink scar variant while Kithaba was the (common) brown bandana. After reading the recent report at Galactic Hunter things made sense. The date stamps confirm this. How do you read a date stamp? The first number is the last digit in the year, and the middle three numbers are the days of the year, and the last number represents the shift. The DS on all the figures in this case were 20131, from the TPM figures to the 501st Clone! So these were all produced on January 13, 2012.

The DS previously reported for pink scar Evazan was 20451 by SWcollector. The running change to an unpainted scar is 20531. This case had the Evazan with pink scar even earlier. The figure and cardback from this case are on the left in both photos below, while on the right is a figure with DS of 20581 found at FYE.

SWcollector has also reported the DS for Kithaba with red bandana starts 20581. The Kithaba in this case was 20131, which is why he has a brown bandana. The main point here is that Hasbro changed Evazan to an unpainted scar early on but Kithaba's bandana wasn't changed until much later! Which is why most of the figures we are finding are the unpained scar Evazan and the brown bandana Kithaba. Currently there are zero of the red bandana figures on ebay and the last one sold for $60!

UPDATE: The Kithaba on the right has a date stamp of 20581 but does not have the red bandana! What does this mean?

Below are photos of the Wedge Antilles that came in this assortment. It is the portrait cardback rather than the full card photo.
