Research Droids Reviews: March 14, 2012 – March 20, 2012

Shaak Ti - ROTS - Basic (III 21)
We possess a very strong opinion that the omission of the scene where General Grievous kills Shaak Ti in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith is one of the biggest mistakes George Lucas ever made. Our opinion really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but it was the absolute perfect connecting dot to the series of events we witnessed in Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars micro-series. .... R4-G9 - ROTS - Sneak Preview (4 of 4)
Pivotal. Innovational. History changing. Important. Groundbreaking. These are all fair adjectives to which can be attributed to the brilliantly created R4-G9 figure part of the Sneak Preview set of Revenge Of The Sith figures that were released to whet collector’s appetites until the line hit retail in April of 2005.... Commander Bly - ROTS - Basic (III 57)
Hasbro surprised Star Wars collectors big time at 2005’s San Diego Comic Con when they announced that there would be a dozen more Revenge Of The Sith basic figures by the ends of the year (before The Saga Collection would begin). Collectors were extremely excited for this announcement because the line was so successful and the new announcement included characters from Episode III that we had been waiting for so long to add into our collections.... R4-P17 - ROTS - Basic (III 64)
What do you call a repainted figure that eclipses in quality its original base figure? Are you asking why we’re asking this question? If you’re asking how this status is possible for a repaint, we’re are going to do our best to sell our case.... (read the full review)

Clone Pilot - ROTS - Basic (III 34)
After Attack Of The Clones but before Revenge Of Sith, Star Wars fans had officially been introduced to only six different clones. (We’re not talking about anything in the Expanded Universe here.) But when Revenge Of This Sith did hit theaters, our observance became instantaneous sensory overload and we probably needed our fingers and toes to count how many unique battalions were in the film.... Brain Invaders (Ahsoka And Clone Trooper Scythe) - TCW [SOTDS] - The Clone Wars DVD Set (2 of 2)
If you doubt that there exists a major breakdown between Hasbro and retail, you needn’t look any further than the third “wave” of The Clone Wars “Shadow Of The Dark Side” DVD sets (and there are even more examples of this that we’ll hint on in a moment or two). Most of the collecting community who buys The Clone Wars stuff were on pins and needles waiting for these sets to hit Walmart.... (read the full review)

Legacy Of Terror (Obi-Wan Kenobi And Clone Trooper) - TCW [SOTDS] - The Clone Wars DVD Set (1 of 2)
That poor last wave of Walmart exclusive DVD sets. The first two waves were straight and boring repacks. Then the third wave each includes a new clone trooper but gets cancelled. Thankfully discount chain TJ Maxx has saved us all by purchasing these sets from retail giant Walmart.... (read the full review)
