Hasbro: It's Time To Bring Back Comic Packs

Hasbro – the season has arrived to bring back the Expanded Universe Comic Packs. Longtime collectors were very saddened when the line was unceremoniously cancelled during the Legacy Collection (with two exclusives released in the Star Wars [Shadow Of The Dark Side] line). There is clearly a large market for both Legends and current canon EU as evidenced by the last couple of Fans’ Choice Polls, and in all honesty it isn’t really fair for the movie characters to compete against these characters who have zealous support from non-collectors. Doctor Aphra should be in a Comic Packs set (as a Fans' Choice winner), not a Fans' Choice winner in The Vintage Collection. (more...)

When you make these characters from the comics, it’s likely the only time these fans buy Star Wars figures. But your longtime collector base is ready and willing to get behind the return of Comic Packs, and we know EU aficionados are as well. Please consider this and if you do bring them to retail again, please don’t kill the line at the start by releasing incessant repacks.

Collectors and EU fans: here is your chance to have Hasbro hear your voice. Because we aren’t completely “in the know” with the comics, we need your help to give Hasbro ideas of what Comic Packs you want to see. In our comments, list two characters (SMALL reference pictures would be wonderful too, but PLEASE DO NOT ADD LARGE IMAGES!) And if you do want to see any previously released Comic Packs again, feel free to list those too. Some past two-pack exceed $200 on the aftermarket. This could be Hasbro’s chance to kill that outrageous premium altogether.

There is no need to be divided as Star Wars fans and collectors. The EU shouldn’t compete with the OT and even the PT anyhow. They should all be available so that everyone is happy. Heck, choose Ben Skywalker for all we care.

So, you know what to do. Snap to it.

There is off-the-charts high-strung passion for the Expanded Universe, so please remember to be respectful to all commenters. We also will not allow the vile language that we saw posted in the Facebook comments underneath the Fans' Choice Poll on StarWars.com. Don't continue to give your group a bad name. Thank you.

Have fun and let your passion be heard.
