During the Star Wars Rebels panel at Celebration, Dave Filoni announced that season four would be the final season. Filoni made it clear that it was his decision to end the series. • Discussing his decision to end the series Dave Filoni said, "I firmly believe that each generation needs to have their own piece of Star Wars. I feel that this show for a lot of kids growing up with it is as much a part of Star Wars as any of the movies, and I really appreciate that love from you guys. And I feel creatively that I can make this story about these characters the most meaningful that it can be by arching it to where I need to get to at the end of this season. I know that's tough, it's tough for me, but believe me I can say I know what it's like when I don't get to end a series and what happens when you don't end a series is that you end up making T-shirts (referring to the "Ahsoka Lives?" T-shirt he was wearing)  and it just wasn't as fun. This show by no means represents an end to anything we're doing at Lucasfilm Animation."
  • What should we expect from season four? Filoni previewed season four by saying, "It's not like anything else that we've ever done. It's different. It's going to be a little dark, a little fun."  Filoni mentioned throughout the weekend that season four would be more serialized than anything they've done before.
  • Some familiar faces will be back. Filoni confirmed that Mon Mothma and Saw Gerrera will return for season four, and Saw's Rogue One companion Two Tubes will make his Rebels debut.
  • It was also revealed that the great Warwick Davis is joining the cast of Star Wars Rebels for the final season. Davis will be playing Rukh. That's right, Thrawn's Noghri bodyguard and assassin from the Thrawn trilogy is about to make his onscreen debut and is officially canon.
  • Following the panel, Filoni screened the season four premiere for those who were in attendance. No spoilers, but it was an excellent start to the season. In terms of Rebels season premieres, it's second only to "Siege of Lothal." It ends with one of their series' darkest moments.
