JTA's Informal Survey/Poll Results Analyzed By A Reader.... Graphically

JTA German reader Funtomaz actually spent the time to analyze the data results of JTA's informal survey/poll on ranking the various Hasbro Star Wars lines and what collectors want to see on store pegs. (Thank God for bigger nerds than me!) As you recall, Hasbro did something similarly this year with random visitors to their booth at San Diego Comic Con. The results are interesting, and Thomas summarizes his analysis for us all. You can read it by clicking through. But since we know that the Hasbro Board Room likes presentations and data facts, we hope that the Hasbro Design and Marketing Team could pass this bit of empirical data onto the suits as needed. Thanks for the effort Thomas!

Hi Paul,

This is Thomas aka "funtomaz". A regular vistor of JTA from Germany since 2013, but I only started commenting on threads a few months ago.

I had some spare time last night and I analyzed the JTA Hasbro poll. I wanted to put it all into numbers and see what the exact results are. For this I gave points according to rank, i.e. rank 1 (most important) was given 5 points, rank 2 was given 4 points and so on. Since a few people didn't rank all the figure lines or said that this or that line doesn't matter at all to them and refused to rank it I also added an additional rank, the "zero interest" rank 6 which gave 0 points.

I counted 235 valid votes.

I created two bar charts, one shows the total number of points, the other lists the votes per rank.

TVC is the clear winner, no surprise of course.

Things get a little more interesting in the votes per rank chart. Here you can see that TBS 6 in has the second highest number of "rank 1 (5 points)" votes, but also a very high amount of rank 4 and rank 5 votes, TBS 6 in is a controversial figure line, no suprise here. 1/3 love or like it, 2/3 of the JTA visitors dislike or hate it. 5 poa is universally hated.

I have attached the two bar charts. You can use them if you want to make a follow-up or results thread.

Keep up the great work! JTA is my most favorite Star Wars site!

Best wishes,

Thomas
