On Thursday night, John Williams received the Life Achievement from the American Film Institute. Williams in the first composer to be honored with the award. Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Harrison Ford, and JJ Abrams were among those who paid tribute to the legendary composer during a presentation at the Dolby Theater. Perhaps the most memorable quote of the night came from Harrison Ford. Ford walked onto the stage as the main theme from Raiders of the Lost Ark played in the background and commented, "That damn music follows me everywhere." The brilliance, ubiquity, and impact of John Williams' work cannot be denied. Star Wars. Indiana Jones. Jaws. E.T. Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Jurassic Park. Superman. Schindler's List. Even Harry Potter. The work of John Williams will live on forever. Congratulations, Mr. Williams. You've earned it.
