Déjà Vintage Collection?

Those who know me best are quite aware of my spontaneous utterances. I feel this post may come across as one. Please know that there is no rhyme or reason to posting this, but rather just an observation I made and it made me wonder if anyone else was noticing the same thing. So let me begin. At the end of 2010, Hasbro assured the collecting community that wave 4 of The Vintage Collection would be released in December (of 2010). (more....)

And aside from some online orders that shipped early, wave 4 actually didn't arrive into stores until February 2011. They sort of got held up for reasons that have never been answered clearly. Interestingly, TVC wave 5 (the first official wave for 2011) arrived weeks before it (and in significantly heavier numbers.) There were even some early store reports of this wave hitting in January too! I am just trying to make a point about the "out of order" arrival of these waves. I say all that to ask if any of you have seen the similarities with The Black Series [Phase III] 6" line?

Here we are in January 2016. Aside from a a few online orders and even less lucky store finds, wave 4 (the X-wing Pilot Asty wave) is nowhere to be found. Yet wave 5 (which still isn't entirely prevalent at the moment), the first official wave of 2016, is arriving in much heavier numbers with most people seeing that wave before wave 4. ABBA once sang "the history book on the shelf is always repeating itself." I believe that certainly applies to Hasbro's distribution. And what a coincidence that we're talking about wave 4 and wave 5 of two different lines AND scales separated by a half of a decade!

Like I said, I apologize for this spontaneous utterance. I thought the "déjà vu" was quite interesting.
