Please consider helping my good friend Dale Hopkins who has just been diagnosed with a blood cancer affliction. He is an incredible selfless human being with more love and care in his heart than I have ever seen. He's a regular here at JTA and we all wish him a quick and speeder recovery, but he needs help in order to heal and get back to normal. Please click through for his story. His Go Fund Me page can be found RIGHT HERE.

A few months ago, in a galaxy with the airport code CLE, a Jedi named Dale was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (aka - Blood Cancer) and all of Dale’s friends said, “What?! How can Dale have blood cancer? He exercises, he eats right, he doesn’t overindulge… He’s the healthiest person I know.” But it turns out that, much like the Death Star’s inability to distinguish between the leaders of the Rebel Alliance and a scruffy-looking nerf herder, cancer can strike anyone at any age.

So this past Christmastime, our brave Jedi started radiation therapy immediately. Now he’s finishing up his sixth round of chemo therapy. Next is Dale’s biggest battle. He’s going to have a stem cell transplant. (This basically means he’s going to have all of the stem cells sucked out of his blood. His bones will be dry cleaned of cancer, and then the stem cells will be reinserted to regrow his bone marrow.) This procedure involves an extended (3 week) hospital stay and then a lengthy (2-3 months) recovery period at home.

Sadly, as most of you know, being a Jedi is more of a calling than a profession with an actual salary. Dale will be off work from his day-job for many, many months while recovering. Also, the medical bills continue to arrive. We’re asking for all Jedi, Jedi friendlies, and Star Wars fans in general to donate to help one of our own. You’ve probably seen Dale at one of the Star Wars Celebrations with his smile as bright as a lightsaber’s blade. If everyone can just give a couple of dollars, then that would take a huge burden off of Dale and he would be able to simply focus on battling the cancer.

Thank you and May the Force be with You! (and Dale!)

Go fund him, please.
