Is The Wool Being Pulled Over Our Eyes?

JTA reader Derek emailed me with some eye-opening images. With Hasbro on a clear cut mission to provide the market with budget Star Wars merchandise, it makes us wonder if they're doing things completely wrong when you see what other toy companies are producing and the prices they sell for at retail. While definitely apples to oranges in many respects, you can't help but wonder why Hasbro cannot produce remotely similarly quality stuff for the Star Wars brand... and at least include a functioning cockpit in every Star Wars vehicle they produce.... regardless of the size. I don't like to bash Hasbro. After all, on average they provide us with amazing product and have done so for a long time. But I came across this small toy plane at Gordman's. It's a cool toy with an opening cockpit and it was only $4.00. Surprisingly it almost fits a normal SA figure. So why in the world is Hasbro charging $50.00 for a similar type of x wing toy? Clearly it's bigger but for $50 can I get a place to sit down. If this no name toy company can figure it out by accident why can't Hasbro?

Love the site!
Derek
