Topic: Q&A of the Day

Welcome to our next Q and A of the Day post! This column will be published daily, weekly, monthly, or just based on how many questions I get emailed – but no more than one a day. Feel free to send in your questions and I will put them in the queue. Click through for Q and A of the Day: Day 24.

Q: A while back you alluded to the end of the 3.75" basic figure line "as we know it". I know sometimes fan sites have access to Hasbro that the general collector base does not, but do you have any more information regarding this potentially tragic turn of events? (Larry V.)

A: I think I was extremely clear that I was "thinking out loud" and those thoughts were a summation of seeing all of the signs in the 3.75" market and the way that the Star Wars line has been exponentially decreasing at retail. I feel that we all may be in for a rude awakening. I have no proof, my thoughts are speculative at best and unless any of us have a magic 8-ball or a crystal ball, we won't know anything until it comes from Hasbro directly. I don't want to create mass panic, but the signs are "clearly" on the wall (for me at least) that this indeed may be true. (Well, at least as far as 3.75" collectors are concerned - which means super-articulated 3.75" figures specifically.) Without giving anything away, highly respected members of Star Wars fan site media have given more than enough cues that change is in the air, and not for the better. [Clue: those that work in the industry. In fact, more cues were reiterated just this week.]

I pray to God that my feelings are completely wrong, but my stomach sinks when thinking about what will be/might be coming after the Luke Skywalker/Yoda (Dagobah Training) wave.... and I would imagine that we may not get too many more waves after that. But again, until it comes from Hasbro, nothing should be interepreted one way or the other.
