Cancelled 2012 Comic Con The Clone Wars DVD Multipack?

Topic: Hasbro

While searching the latest deals at Toys R Us, we came upon The Clone Wars figures with "Not For Sale" stickers covered up by new bar codes. We found something very peculiar when we scanned this barcode at the Price Finder. Click through to see what we did.

UPDATE: Mystery solved.

Is it possible that a planned but cancelled DVD multipack celebrating Season 4 of The Clone Wars was planned? Does this mean something else altogether? Did Hasbro have to break up these said planned sets and put new UPCs on them to sell them individually again? Whatever Hasbro's lot, this should emphasize just how screwed up distribution remains in our beloved line.

UPDATE: JTA reader Michael M. clears it all up for us, although it still doesn't explain the NOT FOR SALE sticker covered up with a new UPC. See below.

He writes:

Hey Paul,

I work for TRU and can help clear this up for you. What you are seeing on the price checker is that these figures qualify for a promo that is going on in store. If you spend a certain amount of money on collectible figures you get the Comic Con Episode IV: A Fans Hope DVD for free. I hope this helps.

Take care,
Mike
