One Update To Contacting Hasbro Consumer Affairs Plus Other Stuff

Posted by Paul | May 01, 2012 at 07:51 PM ET

Wow! We had two different Mike P.s write in today! The second Mike P. obliged us and contacted Hasbro Consumer Relations today. And he eloquently recounts his experience with them for us and well as what it's like being a collector in his specific area of Michigan. Click through to see if he made any headway.

Good afternoon, sir -

I took your advice about calling Hasbro regarding the sad state of affairs with the Vintage line. Before I share their response, let me tell you how things are in my area.

I live in Southeast Michigan, and my general travels take me in about a 50-60 mile radius around this area. I have yet to see ANY of the deleted scene wave. I know of one person who did, and it was a one-time, one case event at a walmart. And 2012 wave one isn't exactly plentiful, either - most stores I frequent (and there are a lot) have at most four or five figures still on the pegs. Now, we're getting into wave three and four, and every target I've gone to says that there is NOTHING in their stockrooms. Now, I work a day job, so I cannot be at a store when it opens in the morning and new cases are put out; there is every possibility that the stores in my area get cleaned out by the scalpers or those who's work schedules allow such trips. But even that shouldn't be the case. Hell, Hasbro's own shop ought to have this stuff IF there was not a serious problem with distribution.

Which dovetails into my experience with Hasbro's customer service. The woman I spoke with couldn't find any shipments to my area since early February, and admitted that those were likely only the first wave of the year. She could not see any for this quarter, but would not have an update until mid-quarter at the earliest. I explained that there are consumers who truly want to purchase their products, but can't if they're not made available. She said she would escalate this, but could not give me a file number since this was not a complaint on a specfic item. So that's that.

I'm not going to lie: it angers me a bit when I see you've found x, y, or z at some store in Philly (apparently, Michigan is ignored as trucks make their way east), but at the same time, I'm relieved to at least know that people are having some success.

Keep up the good work on the site.

Regards,

Mike

Thank you for your feedback Mike. I know our own Morgan has had better success than you and he is from Michigan too. Maybe you guys can chat about that some more. (Paul Harrison)
