STAR TOURS Exclusives Will Be A Nightmare For Non-Attendees?

We've received some unsettling news about how difficult the new STAR TOURS exclusives may be for collectors to secure for their collections. Click through for more!

Anthony writes:

Paul,

I am writing you to let you know of the difficulty that Disney has decided to put upon Star Wars Collectors this year. Hasbro has enginered two sets of Star Tours action figures for their expo that started May 20th, 2011. Over the past few years, these Star Tours items could be purchased on site while visiting the event, or for those that could not travel to the event, could purchase by calling the Disney Mail Order hotline (877-560-6477) and making a purchase.

Last year Disney started throwing roadblocks for customers on these items, placing all telephone orders for Star Tours on "back-order" (until mid-June) and if supplies last, you'd get the item(s).

Apparently this year, Disney does not want to accept telephone orders for these Star Tours items. I originally attempted to order on May 20th, and was told to call back on May 23rd. To be instructed to call back on May 27th, only to be further instructed, call back after June 12th. Three telephone agents giving all different answers. Unacceptable.

I can understand Disney wanting everyone to visit the exhibit, but do they realize they are striking anger in the hearts of collectors, by being so hard-nosed this year? I wonder if Hasbro knows how upsetting this is starting to make some collectors? I mean over half of the figures in these sets are repaints or repacks. If Disney continues to make these items this difficult (just to order) everybody will lose something in some aspect, while trying to collect.

Anyway, just wanted you guys at JTA to know, and could maybe put the word out. Plus, if enough collectors object to this treatment, Disney or Hasbro may look into it.

Thanks for your time,

Anthony Kuzak,
Sandy Hook, KY

Thanks Anthony, we would be interested in hearing other people's experiences as well. Please let us know.
