Thankful We Are!

We've reached a landmark today that wouldn't have been possible without you. Please click through for more.

If you’ve been following JTA as far back as May 24, 2009, you probably can figure out that today is our two year anniversary of our Research Droids Reviews column, a column that quickly became a mainstay at Jedi Temple Archives and brings you a new review every day. The last two (2) years have tallied 731 reviews (and 731 days straight of uniterrupted service). Little did we know when we started this column that it would pick up enough momentum to last as long as it has (and hopefully continues to do so). But it actually has done a lot more than that too. The column has grown to become our biggest feature here at Jedi Temple Archives and for that we want to express how thankful we are to you our readers for making it the success that it is. Just by checking in with us daily means the world and we are especially grateful to those of you (including our colleagues) that have linked our reviews helping to spread the word about Research Droids Reviews. Who would of thought that a move of the spirit to rave/write about 2009’s The Legacy Collection Ugnaught (BD 43) would have spawned such a machine as RDRs? We certainly didn’t foresee it. But thank you for making it become a reality.

The column has been a labor of love but it has also been responsible for producing a great deal of blood, sweat and tears. Between narrowly not making/meeting article deadlines and pure overall mental exhaustion from writer's block, it nevertheless all seems to pan out in the end. The upward battles certainly have been worth it all because it appears to be something you all are digging. Keep in mind that we write this column during our free time. We all work full time jobs and live relatively normal lives, so we devote what remaining extraneous time is left (which isn’t a lot mind you) to this column (in addition to the many other articles like news and what-have-you we publish). Since its inception, Research Droids Reviews has expanded from a mere 2 categories to a healthy 22 categories (now encompassing a wider spread of various collectors’ tastes), has exceeded 1 million hits (which blows us away – you guys/gals are CUH-RAY-ZEE) and most importantly, we have incorporated guest reviews from our friends around the web into the mix (and look forward for many others to join in on the fun in the future). We are only one opinion and we think the voices are others are just as important to include in our column. We look forward to more participation going forward. We have received wonderful feedback, glorious praise and even a few pieces of entertaining hate mail from our readers about the RDRs. We thank you all for it. We love getting our ego stroked of course, but any press is good press. You guys are talking about them and that makes us extremely happy. We always love hearing from you, so please keep those emails and Facebook posts coming. And thank you for writing in to us with your special requests and making us aware of our typos and errors that need corrections. You’re all a very important part of the process as you can see.

To help celebrate our two (2) year anniversary (or is it birthday? – I get those two confused when talking about landmarks), I have picked one of my most favorite high-end collectibles of all time, Sideshow Collectibles’ Darth Maul Life Size Bust. This awesome piece still startles every morning when I come down the stairs to leave for work or errands and is definitely the centerpiece of my personal collection. I have never seen a more realistic collectible in my life and I am proud to say that I own one of only 1000 pieces worldwide. It goes for a pretty penny on eBay today, but hopefully you can enjoy this piece vicariously through our review of it. To top it off, it’s also the final entry in our week long “7 Days Of Darth Maul” marathon. We hope you have enjoyed our focus on Darth Maul this week who is clearly a fan favorite character. It goes without saying that the Life Size Busts line is out of most collectors’ budgets, but we still think it’s important to check out and take in some of the amazing items produced for Star Wars collectors, even if they're something you're not going to purchase. It's all part of the Star Wars experience! Way before Sideshow, collectors of high end items essentially had nothing to buy. And the high end stuff that was available was really a joke.

Thank you once again for being a reader of JTA’s RDRs. We are honored that you take time from your busy lives to read our zeal and passion contained within us for all Star Wars collectibles and toys through this medium. Here’s hoping we have enough steam to keep up the same pace to mark another anniversary!

Love, peace, and joy to you all,

Paul Harrison

May the Force be with you….always.
