It's A Trap! - Not The Sequel You're Looking For!

We had to offer up our quick opinion (whether you want it or not) about the latest installment of Family Guy's Star Wars Spoof, "It's A Trap!" It may have been best titled as "It's Crap!" because this is not the sequel we were looking for....

While we're not naive to the fact that any Family Guy franchise will be full of crude and harsh language, It's A Trap! takes the cake for absolutely unnecessary foul language and it's certainly not appropriate for children (not that your children should be waching Family Guy anyway) of any age. In fact, there is not even a clear warning on the packaging of the level of the foul language the feature contained (and something we're honestly a little irritated about). But despite the vulgarity (which doesn't seem to bother people anymore), the jokes are terribly weak in general. While we did chuckle a few times, it just didn't create the same affection we had for both Blue Harvest and Something, Something, Something Dark Side which really had some side-splitting great jokes in them.

It's A Trap! flies through Return Of The Jedi at lightspeed and skips over some important plot lines and scenes which we would have loved to see parodied. As a result, it's a very choppy viewing experience. And we actually thought of some funnier and better jokes in our heads that would have made the scenes funnier than what the movie itself delivered. Seth McFarlance does warn with an opening disclaimer that they were burned out making the third installment and we have to wholeheartedly agree with them. This may have been better off not even released, or delayed and made better. And we were honestly tired of the "Empire is better" digs on Jedi (even if that may indeed be the case). In short, It's a Trap! is skippable. Unless you're looking for vulgarity and silly potty humor, there isn't much to be entertained by here. But if you want to see the conclusion of this series, then you just gotta push through it and watch it. What a shame.

Oh, and if you're looking for the Prequel Trilogy to be spoofed, McFarlance and Company jokingly allude that this will be attempted in The Cleveland Show. We won't hold our breath.
