Hello JTA,

Last week you posted your reviews of the walmart exclusive 3.75 line, the Leia review summed up what I am feeling during this dark time in collecting the line. What should be a joyous exciting time in all things star wars, is being let down by the worst offerings from Hasbro in the last 20 years of the modern line. The line hasn't been with out it's faults, from the steroid beginnings to the swivel elbows and action features, but looking back this was progress, evolution that brought us the legacy and vintage collection era, arguably the best lines ever. So it was with much anticipation to see what they would produce for The Force Awakens, I never would of guessed 5poa happy meal quality figures and an inexcusable small turn out of high end figures - with major flaws.

Hasbro are not giving the line enough support and it must be turning collectors and buyers away in their numbers, and this worries me as a fan of this line for it's future.

Anyway, I managed to find the latest wave of figures at above retail price, because they are hard to get/ not guaranteed to be released here in the UK, and I was as angry as you with the state of the paint apps, I would bet my life savings that the people who quality controlled Han Solo have never seen the film, orange hair, really??

I've never attempted to customize a figure or improve paint apps, I saw it as making it 'unofficial' but I couldn't display Han with orange hair, I posted a couple of pics of Han with grey hair and improved eyes and wanted to share with you pics of the others,

Leia, I tidied up the hair line, scrapped the eyebrows off and painted on new ones (this was tricky and I settled with the 'concerned' look which I thought was apt for this point in the film), painted over the red 'sith' eyes and added a small amount of eye liner on the the bottom of the eyes.

Han, painted the hair grey, with a brown and a white wash, eyebrows grey, and scrapped the bottom of the eyes to make them smaller.

Phasma/ stormtrooper, painted the goggles and mouth pieces to make them more accurate and filled in any gaps on the body suit (black)

Poe, tidied up the hair line, scraped the bottom of the eyes to make them smaller and painted on new eyebrows. This is still the least like the character and can only assume this head is based on a different actor/ extra!

The others I was happy with and in Hasbro's defence would argue that these (apart from Poe) are some of the best sculpts I have ever seen and stand up to the same quality as the vintage collection, the Han and Leia heads up close are remarkable at this scale, however they are let down on a monumentally by appalling paint applications.

Hope you approve of the pics, and hope Hasbro pull their act together

All the best

Michael
