Research Droids Reviews: December 14, 2011 – December 20, 2011

Mace Windu (Jedi Master) - Order Of The Jedi - 1:6 Scale Figures
You know Sideshow Collectibles has got it together when they can make a 1:6 Scale Figure that satisfies the accessory/outfit requirements of all three Prequel Trilogy films in one fell swoop, right? Well, that’s exactly what they did with the Mace Windu (Jedi Master) 1:6 Scale Figure.... (read the full review)

Kit Fisto (Jedi Master) - Order Of The Jedi - 1:6 Scale Figures
It’s true what they say about assuming. You just shouldn’t do it. And Sideshow Collectibles 1:6 Scale Figure collectors quickly learned early in the line that we shouldn’t have assumed that we’d be getting one human Jedi after another in their Order Of The Jedi sub collection of figures. Thank goodness we were way off base.... (read the full review)

Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight) - Order Of The Jedi - 1:6 Scale Figures
Arguably, the biggest announcement at 2005’s San Diego Comic Con was that Sideshow Collectibles struck a deal to be under license with Hasbro to create one-sixth scale Star Wars figures. Hasbro’s interest in their Action Collection line was severely waning by the time Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith was released.... (read the full review)

Plo Koon (Jedi Master) - Order Of The Jedi - 1:6 Scale Figures
Sideshow Collectibles has found new and invigorating ways to make their 1:6 Scale Figure line new and exciting with each release. They rely heavily on creating exclusive versions of the highly sought after 12” figures to create demand that probably wouldn’t exist normally were it not for them.... (read the full review)

Anakin Skywalker (Jedi Knight) - Order Of The Jedi - 1:6 Scale Figures
After Sideshow Collectible announced acquiring the Star Wars license from Hasbro to produce 1:6 Scale Figures, they immediately developed tunnel vision and focused on characters that would fall under the newly hailed Order Of The Jedi sub-collection. No Jedi was off limits, but obviously one of their main goals was to quickly bang out the core characters.... (read the full review)

Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi Master) - Order Of The Jedi - 1:6 Scale Figures
One theme you see us repeat over and over again in this column is that Obi-Wan Kenobi's portrait/likeness/head sculpt is always like pizza. Even if they’re bad, they’re still good. And more often than not they are really good. It must be something about the facial structures of both Sir Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor that make it easy for licensees to duplicate it into plastic and polystone with such grace and distinction.... (read the full review)

Qui-Gon Jinn (Jedi Master) - Order Of The Jedi - 1:6 Scale Figures
Sideshow Collectibles chose Jedi evenly across most of the Star Wars films by the time Qui-Gon Jinn got announced. Not meant to focus on any one film, the Order Of The Jedi sub-collection (as well as the others) are meant to fairly represent all characters who fall under than branch. Episode I does not get a lot of love in general by licensees, but Sideshow seemed to want to make the playing field as fair as possible and as a result we get the lead Jedi Master from Episode I in one-sixth scale....
