I'd like to post a small update to state of collecting right now. I've ranted a lot (don't worry - this isn't a rant) and I have seen some improvements which sort of softened my stressed negative attitude into cautious positivity. Obviously, improvements in product arriving at retail doesn't mean need is completely being fulfilled. And it certainly doesn't give us license to become a lazy collector. Click through for a few words of advice and always keep the collecting fire burning!
Between our Facebook page and our Disqus comments, we have gotten a great deal of feedback from our readers of successful toy hunts and not so successful toy hunts. Let us encourage you to visit stores daily if possible. The stuff is DEFINITELY hitting everywhere in the USA. All it takes is one "other person"* to beat you to the punch and it may take weeks for the store to get replenished. I personally check every day and after all of my store reports on wave 9 of The Vintage Collection and waves 22 and 23 of The Clone Wars line well stocked at TARGET, well, they've all but vanished into thin air less than a week from finding them. Does this mean that this will tickle the replenishment key? That is unknown. But keep in mind that there is no being a passive collector anymore. You must be aggressive and run, run, run the roads to get stuff. It will eventually pay off for you because we can tell you the stuff is arriving. And if your store didn't reap the benefits of better distribution yet, it most certainly will.... eventually. Never lose hope and once again, you gotta get out there and look.... aggressively.
* "other person" - this could be a scalper, a parent or just another fellow collector.
