2011 NYCC: Hasbro The Vintage Collection Floor Report

Posted by Paul | October 14, 2011 at 11:14 PM ET

Here is JTA's floor report of Hasbro's 2011 NYCC Hasbro presentation. We took lots of noted and clarified some questions we had with Hasbro. Click through to see what we compiled!

You could sense the excitement and dedication in Hasbro's voices as they took a nice chunk of time during the presentation to talk about the glorious The Vintage Collection. Probably the most important thing to keep in mind is that the figures will be coming to us in any way but chronological. Hasbro admitted that distribution is anything but ideal and they are making it right by rereleasing key popular figures and an entire wave of figures that just hasn't met demand. You saw our report of The Vintage Collection numbering system and it is still accurate, but waves are being moved around quite a bit due to The Phantom Menace in 3D multimedia event. Obviously Hasbro needs to focus on getting the Episode I stuff out to retail with a national release date of January 30th, so there will be a small delay before we start seeing the first few waves of TVC begin to hit. This is what you can expect:

There will be 55 The Vintage Collection figures in 2012. Eight of them are straight repacks. But the good news is that Hasbro is making it their mission to get out the Gamorrean Guard and Wedge Antilles out in healthy numbers again. In an unprecedented move, Hasbro is completely reissuing wave 7 (the Captain Fordo) wave because this is another set of figures that most people have not even seen yet... and per Hasbro they're all gone. Whatever is out is out there. There could be cases stuck in a few warehouses, but that's it. They will be reshipping with the same exact card back art and they will NOT be renumbered which should make carded collectors extremely happy!

The Deleted Scenes figures caused Hasbro a great deal of distress for the Hasbro art department. But they did manage to create there own unique composite card back art shots and are very happy with the results. Another figure that caused problems for them was The Clone Wars realistically styled Anakin Skywalker figure. What Hasbro has managed to do is use Hayden Christensen's likeness and put him in the outfit that Anakin wears in the television show. The card back will also contain The Clone Wars logo in red. 19 more figures will be announced at NY Toy Fair in February 2012. They will include 3 more The Clone Wars realistic figures, 3 Expanded Universe figures and the 2011 Hasbro Fans' Choice figure. There is indeed a lot more to come! Stay tuned!
