This year's San Diego Comic Con has provided a wealth of information about the remainder of 2009's Basic Figure line. But what about one character who isn't dressed for the sunny California weather? Read on!
The running
change of the Hoth Rebel Trooper (as seen HERE) was originally scheduled to
ship in revision cases of TLC BLUE wave 7 (Attack Of The Clones). However,
if you've been keeping up with the Hasbro Star Wars Q&A
sessions, you may have caught this recently:
The challenge will be with the EpII wave - we cut back production on this
one and it will be the scarcest of all the Legacy waves, and we needed to give
new production over to the red/white waves to make sure they get in to retail
approximately late August/early Sept.
Hasbro told JTA at San Diego Comic Con that this change has had a significant
impact on the production numbers of the clean shaven Hoth Rebel Trooper relative
to the bearded Hoth Rebel. And that the scaling back of TLC BLUE wave 7 will
result in the clean shaven trooper being one of the most scarce figures in all
of the TLC BLUE line. Additionally, this figure was not scheduled to be carried
forward into the new TLC RED line.
However, despite the cut in production of TLC BLUE wave 7, Hasbro also told JTA
that they still have this wave in stock in their own warehouses. This wave will
continue to ship to both brick & mortar and online retail, but will be in
lower than normal quantities. And Hasbro explicitly stated that online retail
may present the better option for the clean shaven Hoth Rebel.
