BREAKING NEWS: Rogue One Product Launch "Rumor" Report

Posted by Paul | August 09, 2016 at 03:23 PM ET

Oh boy do we have a healthy dose of juicy 'rumors' to share with you today. But we're not sure if it all will make you happy. If you’re interested, be sure to read all the news surrounding the Rogue One September 30th “Force Friday” product launch by clicking through for more! (Disclaimer: as with any rumor, take this with a grain of salt until never confirmed by Hasbro.... blah, blah, blah....) (more....)

Note the quotes surrounding "Force Friday". Although the launch is set in stone for September 30th, we don’t know if the event will be hailed as a "Force Friday" event. It doesn’t matter. Same principle. Remember a bazillion months ago when we told you that there will be some sort of pre-order/pre-sale for some of the products? Well, despite some trying to discredit us with our exclusive news tidbit, it is indeed happening. We can all expect to have the ability to pre-order Jyn Erso in early to mid September for example. We understand other products will have this option as well. We just don't know to what extent.

The Rogue One product launch will pale in comparison to that of The Force Awakens. With Force Friday 2015, there were a ton of SKUs planned for the line. The opposite is true for Rogue One. In general terms, Rogue One will have a significantly smaller footprint than that of The Force Awakens line and the volume of products will be smaller across the board as well.

There will ONLY BE ONE WAVE of The Black Series [Phase III] 6” figures available at product launch. If you saw the “illegal” image on our front page or on social media, that is wave 1. The first wave includes (please forgive spelling errors) Rey (Jakku), Kylo Ren (Unmasked), Jyn Erso, Captain Cassion, K2SO, and Imperial Death Trooper. This comprises wave 1 and the ONLY figures in this scale we will see on September 30th.

Around early to mid November we will start to see wave 2. Wave 2 is comprised of Jyn Erso, Death Trooper, Director Krennic, Scarif Stormtrooper, C-3PO (red arm) and Princess Leia Organa (God help us all that she has been fixed to passable standards). Again, this wave arrives sometime in November.

All of the SDCC reveals are at best late First Quarter or Second Quarter releases. It could potentially be a very long time before we see new figures on shelves after November. Hasbro has been known to solicit waves out of order in the past, but this practice is atypical and not common. But the possibility exists. In short, we have NO IDEA when those SDCC reveals will hit shelves, but don't hold your breath.

Of course, there ARE NO 3.75 SUPER-ARTICULATED action figures except those coming to Walmart’s exclusive line. We have no idea what comprises this collection, if any at this point.

There will also ONLY BE ONE wave of 3.75” 5POA (yes, you read that correctly) at launch. Apparently being good stewards of a license in this day and age means that 12 figures for a product launch is good.  Wave 1 is made up of Jyn Erso (I), K2SO, Kanan (Stormtrooper), Imperial Grand Crer (I think this is a misspelling) , Imperial Stormtrooper, Sabine Wren and Kylo Ren. These of course will all be available September 30th.

Wave 2 of 3.75” 5POA will be available around November as well as includes Chirrut Imure (supposedly the blind guy), Princess Leia (Rebels), Jyn Erso (II), Director Krennic, Captain Cessian Andor , Rey, and Darth Vader.

There will also be Class I and Class II vehicles, but a hefty amount of them will be straight repacks (sad face).

Class I vehicles (approx. $25) include: Assault Walker, Ezra Bridger’s Speeder and AT-DP Pilot with Speeder.

Class II vehicles include (approx. $35) include: FO Snowspeeder repack (ugh), A-wing with Hera, Y-wing Scout Bomber with Kanan (ugh). There is also another vehicle listed but it’s unintelligible at the moment.

By the way, we learned that Seal means anything Rebel Alliance related and Shark means anything Galactic Empire related.

Deluxe 2-Packs are returning and we learned about three new ones: Death Trooper/Rebel Commando Tao, Scarif Stormtrooper/Moroff and Officer Blue Squad Leader/HB Officer (Episode VII)

Other things are coming too like role-play, die cast, lightsabers and NERF, but that’s about all of the crazy rumors we can report on at the moment.
