Baby Breaking News: Shock Trooper Bucket Sees Small Changes

Posted by Paul | August 08, 2013 at 06:24 PM ET

Justin Cook: You're not going to believe this one! But everyone, please don't get too over-excited. This is subtle and not drastic. But it is indeed true and all of the changes together make this differences noticeable enough. I would like to refer to this post as baby "breaking news". The Shock Trooper figure in The Rise Of Darth Vader TARGET exclusive has some notable changes from the TVC figure! Click through for more!

OK. So you know how badly we all need for Hasbro to completely revisit the phase II helmets on the TVC VC45 clone trooper bodies, right? Hasbro has inadvertently (i.e. not intentionally) done something to the mold of the oversized bucket that has significant effects on how the helmet looks on the body now. This is clearly based on the way the helmet was manufactured and its decoration (and likely nothing else). The same "N" inside the roof of the helmet is exactly the same as we've seen already, proof that it's the same helmet.

Let me clarify for the forum troll. I am in NO WAY claiming that Hasbro has resculpted, re-edited or intentionally revised the phase II clone helmet. But whatever process it went through has absolutely affected the final product and its aesthetics.

Things you should note:

1. The outside of the helmet around the visor has been "sucked in" (for lack of a better word). It gives the helmet the perfect contour and makes it look a whole lot less wide.

2. The visor has been painted thicker to genuinely looks like a proper phase II helmet. A slightly different color of red has been used to decorate the figure.

3. The bucket HAS INDEED been shrunken down, ever so slightly, as a side by side comparison shows different (smaller) sizes in the geometric shape for shape against the new Shock Trooper versus the TVC Shock Trooper. Also, the helmet on The Rise Of Darth Vader Shock Trooper stays a little tighter to the clone's head, not tightly however.

4. The vertical red color flashes (the hash marks) above the visor are completely at 90 degree angles which give the helmet a very streamlined look.

All of these points work together to make a notable enhancement to the phase II Shock Trooper. For the images below, The Rise Of Darth Vader Shock Trooper is on the left and the TVC Shock Trooper is on the right.
